Cynicism is a very important element, so make sure you sound very sarcastic when you reply. I can almost assure you that after using one of these replies; you’ll never have to worry about your conversant asking any more stupid questions about homeschooling. Or anything else, with any luck.

Pure joy,
so good, so wonderful
just the memory makes my heart soar
I can still feel the wind
as cold as the snow
and the ice all around us
as it rushed through my hair
as I spun around, twirling,

I knew all along that it would end this way,
But I didn't realize that it would be this way.
I knew all along what I had to do,
But I never took time to see what I was doing.
I knew I had to gain their trust in order to work against them,
But I never thought that in gaining their trust I would learn to love them.
