"I awoke only to find that the rest of the world is still asleep."
-Leonardo da Vinci

Can you see the colors?
They’re shining through the window,
accompanying the silver starlight.

It’s one of the greatest wonders!
Do they really not show?
But I can see them all right.

Come dance in the wind
with pale green and turquoise
flowing through its eddies.

It’s practically a sin
to ignore the murmuring voice
You don’t hear it? You must be pretending!

Mist of Vision Pt. 3

Submitted by Gina I. on Mon, 10/14/2013 - 23:56

Violante's life had drastically changed in the past week or two. She had originally been scrounging for food and barely keeping herself alive. Then she had been kidnapped for no apparent reason, watched two people die, and got taken captive again by these strange people who offered her freedom at a price. It was a better price than she would've bargained for, she knew, and maybe sometime she could find a way to escape.

Delse led them to another room. It was well lit, almost too bright, and held many strange devices that Violante had never seen before. She didn't need to question what they were for-- it was easy to guess.
"Umm, let's see," she said. "You're going to torture me until I tell you all my secrets?"
"No," Delse said. "I wasn't planning on it. This is a test."
"Of... what?"
"Of you in general. Most people only show themselves under truly trying experiences. Krayan, get in the chair."

Mist of Vision: The Beginning

Violante was nervous. She had never traveled this particular road through the Swamps before, and for good reason. For one, it was the worst road you could choose, having so many potholes and overgrowth it was almost not even a trail. For two, it was foggy and nearly impossible to see. For three... let's just say her company wasn't the greatest. It was-- at least, these were her names for them-- a Monkey, Idiot, and Nobody.

I Could Have Hoped

It's even starting to affect him
Covers his ears on the couch
He used to be the one that
Would go about his business while the rest of us
Begged, pleaded
Hoped it would end
Now look how it has changed
One of us is making breakfast
The other is typing
We don't even try
And then there I look up
He is holding his ears on the couch
And I realize
Oh wow
It's reached him

Snapshots

1. Snapshots
I sometimes wish I could catch
those special moments with a camera
plant them in my mind and never stop seeing them
replay them over and over in my head
you are beautiful
when you look at me that way
my heart does things that a human heart shouldn’t
have the ability to do while I’m still breathing
like stop for a few breaths
then let it go again
please just let me
love you like you know I can

Girl of Heart

Evangeline Selene was a girl of Heart. That is, she lived in a land called Heart. The land was not what the name implied. While you might think a land of golden sunshine, gorgeous blooming trees and flowers, lush grass, gently rolling plains and such like, it was , in reality, a bare, grey, empty place, where few people lived. Those that did were the toughies, the stoics, the resilient, the... yeah, you get the point.

End World

Imagine the earth.

Imagine looking out over the horizon. Imagine trees and birds. Imagine laughing rivers, massive oceans and expansive skies.

Now, imagine it all gone.

Imagine a dead world, where rock and dust replace the once lush plains of the world we used to call home. Imagine a planet scorched by the flames of a red sun. Everything is cold.
