NaNo Writing Buddies...

Submitted by Madeline on Wed, 10/30/2013 - 22:37

Okay, so! This year I'm doing NaNo, and it'd be awesome to have people from AP as buddies. Only I have the hardest time finding people on the site, and even when you copy>paste a Username the EXACT WAY (I swear!) one of you wrote it, I still get nothing. :P

So I figured, why not give each other the direct link to our pages?

So there you have it!

I'm so staying up until 12 am tomorrow night to start. :P I guess you could say I'm excited. *sigh*

Confucianism

Submitted by Hannah D. on Tue, 10/29/2013 - 23:56

Confucius was not so much a religious leader as a cultural reformer. And as a reformer, he did an incredibly remarkable job. In his time, China was plagued by "Rival baronies left to their own devices, creating a precise parallel to conditions in Palestine in the period of the Judges: 'In those days there was no king in Israel; every man did what was right in his own eyes'" (Smith, 160).

The Fall, the Flood, and Creation Biology

Submitted by Hannah D. on Tue, 10/29/2013 - 21:46

I recently attended a Creation Biology Seminar with speakers Dr. Joe Francis, microbiologist, and Dr. Todd Wood, baraminologist. With the Fall and the Flood as their theme, they covered such extensive topics as the baraminology of Lantana flowers and the possible uses of viruses in a Pre-Fall world. They went into great detail on the various research projects they are conducting within their fields, and it was honestly quite exciting!

NaNoWriMo Comes Knocking

Submitted by Kassady on Mon, 10/28/2013 - 18:29

So, as all of your Wrimo's know, it's that time of year again. You know the time when it's cold outside, you drink hot cocoa, you hang around inside with warm socks and a blanket, staring at the snow falling outside your window. But, most importantly, it's NaNoWriMo!!!! That exciting, challenging, mentally dangerous, annoying, fun, and crazy thing we do every November no matter if we know what craziness is in store or not.

So, I don't have much time to write this, but I wanted to thank James for keeping this site running and everyone who has ever taken the time to read my writing, even if they don't comment. I honestly don't think that I would be where I am today. I am lucky to say that I have been published three times, and soon, I will be submitting another piece to a literary journal. I don't think that I could have done that without all of y'all taking the time to encourage and critique me. I have grown simply by reading your writing and I am inspired every day by all of you!
THANK YOU ALL <3

The Curse of Time: Chapter 10

Submitted by Elizabeth Anne on Fri, 10/25/2013 - 20:51

This all just happened so fast that I can’t even figure out how it started anymore. And what has happened? What is happening? I’m not even sure that any of this is real. I guess it doesn’t really matter though, if it’s real or not. Whether time travel exists or doesn’t, I promised Aaron I’d decide.
Maybe I could just go with them to make sure nothing crazy happens.
What am I saying? To go with them is to assume that something crazy will inevitably happen. Regardless, I need to decide by tomorrow.

Thank you, James. Kassady. Erin, Maddi, little woman, Megan, Kyleigh, Sarah Bethany, Bridget, Sarah, Leinad K. Romethe, Arthur, Benjamin, Aalen Fideli....just everyone!

*I'm thinking perhaps I should make this simple, short, and sweet but it's really difficult for me to do that and feel any sort of satisfaction. So here you are--my version of a grand THANK YOU essay/letter with a flourish!*

1. First Dates
I’ll never forget the first time he ran his hand through my hair. I was engulfed in the way he looked at me: like I was a treasure, like I meant something. I’ll remember the chilly autumn air and the shudder in my bones when his chapped lips met mine. I’ll remember how embarrassed I was when I pulled away from him in surprise. “Nonono, I didn’t mean to, do it again!” I recall crying, shoving my hands in my pockets. I remember how he laughed at me and after a period of begging, he kissed me again with his chapped lips and I didn’t pull away.
