"I awoke only to find that the rest of the world is still asleep."
-Leonardo da Vinci

Can you see the colors?
They’re shining through the window,
accompanying the silver starlight.

It’s one of the greatest wonders!
Do they really not show?
But I can see them all right.

Come dance in the wind
with pale green and turquoise
flowing through its eddies.

It’s practically a sin
to ignore the murmuring voice
You don’t hear it? You must be pretending!

Hold my hand, and follow me.
use your senses, and try to see
beyond the beyond there’s a world of beauty.

I'm writing a series of poems inspired by quotes. If you have a favorite quote, feel free to share and I may use it!

What a cool idea! I liked this--although I could have done without the exclamation points (I'm very anti-exclamation point when I write, but that's just me ;).
"Does they really not show?" I think you meant "do" instead of "does". Anyway, I LOVE that quote! I hadn't ever heard it before. Keep posting!

"You were not meant to fit into a shallow box built by someone else." -J. Raymond

Yes, that was supposed to be "do", not "does." Thank you!

I'm usually rather anti-exclamation points myself, but this was what my stream of consciousness wanted, so I left them in even after I edited. :P

Interesting idea you've had here. I agree with Erin, but I completely understand. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do, even if you don't usually. :) This to me almost felt like a circus announcer (or whatever you call the guys) talking to a crowd. Weird, I know, but that's what came to mind when I read this. There's a lot of grandeur in it. Also, I like the last line. Good job.

The tone of this is like, majestic. Grand. Royal. This is a great idea.

Two quotes. Random, but there has to be better - I just can only think of Anne right now...

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables ---and it's October right now!! The perfect time to write with this.

"I heard someone once say that the years from fifteen to nineteen are the best years in a girl's life."
— L.M. Montgomery (Rilla of Ingleside)

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I also don't really like exclamation marks in poems; but they really seemed to suit the feel of this poem! Great job!

My random quotes.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those that mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." -- Dr Seuss

"The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude about the problem." -- Jack Sparrow

Love yours, Megan! Yes! Write something with the October one.

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

Thought of a quote! I might think of more later :)
"The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves-for we are underlings."-William Shakespeare (Julius Caesar)

"You were not meant to fit into a shallow box built by someone else." -J. Raymond

Thank you all for the quote suggestions: I like them all!

Unfortunately I'll probably not use the October quote till next October, because I wanted to write and post one based on it IN October, but I forgot... O.o
