Most of the time, me and my brother (the Technological Geekster – he’s asked me to call him that on here) get along pretty well. We’re fairly close as far as siblings go. But sometimes, he drives me downright insane. And sometimes, even he will get in a random mood, and if I happen to be in a random mood at that point, interesting things happen. Today we were tossing a half-deflated Mylar balloon around my room and talking. I kicked the balloon, and he said, “Oh no! You just killed the balloon!”

Bridget's Adventures in the Towel Cupboard, Flashbacks

Flashbacks

Bridget sat in front of her computer, her mind racing with ideas that she couldn’t put into words. She couldn’t think of names for anyone. She was horrible at names.

Bridget was lying in her bed, crying. She was lonely, and heart felt weighed down as if there were a stone tied to it. She clutched the gold medal she had won in the last tournament and closed her eyes.

Today

Today.

I'm learning how to say it, feel it, breathe it, live it. Up until now ("now" is another word that has been infiltrating my vocabulary), I was all about tomorrow. Yesterday was something painful....now that I look back on it, yesterday was painful because I was too busy chasing after tomorrow.

Today.

Now I see that our God is a God of the Now, the God of Today. Because He is not bound by time, he is the God of the Now.

Do you see how comforting that is?

The American War for Independence: Reformation or Revolution?

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sat, 06/20/2009 - 06:02

The American Revolution is a historical event that stirs up patriotism in the hearts of many Americans. They praise the founding fathers, shake their fists at tyrannical England, and cheer at the stories of courage and leadership. However, the American Revolution is a misnomer, because it was not a truly revolution. As defined by Dr. George Grant, revolution is men taking violent action against their government because they want immediate change in or destruction of the old order. (Grant, 2003, no.

The Tale of Ander Collins: Chapter Twelve

“I can’t believe Thraluic talked me into this,” Ander moaned the next morning, tugging at the shorn ends of his hair and looking into the dusty mirror above the cracked wash-basin.
Shyllen sat on the bed and looked at him in amusement, most of the traces of her earlier breakdown gone. There were still a few faint teary streaks on her face, but apparently the innkeeper’s wife had managed to calm her down.
Ander was smart enough not to ask any questions.

Good Enough

I'm never afraid when I am with you,
nor when I have an audience
I'm always onstage,
the lights in my face,
never out of costume

But only I know about the times
standing alone in a library
looking at endless lists of names
and wondering,
how on earth will I ever be good enough
How on earth will I ever be
the voice, the chartalan of powerful words
of worlds I've never seen?

The Scarred Goddess, Chapter 6

I never saw the contents of the letter. Mante told us to pack up; we were leaving that night. Later I heard him talk to Liuna in hushed tones, but I could only catch fragments of what they were saying. However, after they were done, Mante went out the door and walked out with his head low, as Liuna sadly closed the door behind him.
