Walking the Mayflower

This August, my family and I went to Boston, Massachusetts for exactly four days. We left on Sunday afternoon and got back Wednesday afternoon. It took us a day and a half to get to Boston and when I beheld the Old City, it was full of wonder and delight.

As I rubbed my sleepy eyes from deep slumber, I saw the ocean water lapping lazily against the harbor docks. Tourist boats skidded across the water’s edge and people waved up at the bridge. I thought about waving back. Nah, I told myself, better not. It’d be weird.

We're talking and his voice is beautiful. The way his eyes get when he's really excited and the way they change colors in the light is amazing. He's like a kaleidoscope, no, he's the light and I'm the kaleidoscope, and I'm seeing colors that match the tone of his voice and the way he's a few inches away and he's cracking a joke and my heart is beating faster and faster and I think I may burst from the sheer joy of the fact that he chose me to talk to out of the ten much nicer and better looking people he knows in the room.

The Curse of Time: Chapter 13

On the morning of the second week they were no closer to solving the riddle than at the beginning. They thought they were, but every time they had thought so in the past had led to a dead end. They didn’t even know where to start looking. They thought that maybe the poem might be a straight description of a drop out mirror, but they couldn’t find any clear matches in the realities they had seen. They were lost.

“Okay, so the first thing you need to know is that the problem is not alternate realities for us, it’s time travel. Or rather protecting it.” Cameron spoke to them all as they gathered around a table that was projection images and documents that seemed to make no sense.
“So, why the need to protect it? And what does this have to do with alternate realities?”

The Girl Called #11: Friends

This is based on a true story. I wrote this story for a friend of mine last year who plays soccer in college. She wanted to be 11 years old in this story because that's her number. She was also 11 when bother her parents were still alive. My friend's Dad passed away from cancer when she was 12 and her Mom from the same disease when she was 18. This story is dedicated to her Mom, a well known and loved woman. She was also a Mother figure in my life, I have to admit myself. I hope you enjoy Hanna and her story of soccer as my friend did herself. -J. Glen Pollard

A Campout in the Woods (the Sequel to "A Hunt in the Woods")

Yesterday, I took my little sister to the woods for the night. We were supposed to sleep in our small but sturdy tent. A summer wind blew across our hot and tired face.

As we walked to find a perfect spot, my sister let out a loud and horrified scream. She jumped up and down till I grabbed her by her small hands and calmed her down. She told me she just saw an ugly dwarf behind a creepy tree.
