So, as all of your Wrimo's know, it's that time of year again. You know the time when it's cold outside, you drink hot cocoa, you hang around inside with warm socks and a blanket, staring at the snow falling outside your window. But, most importantly, it's NaNoWriMo!!!! That exciting, challenging, mentally dangerous, annoying, fun, and crazy thing we do every November no matter if we know what craziness is in store or not. NaNoWriMo is what takes up most of your time thinking about in October, and what you fill yourself with all throughout November, so much so that when Thanksgiving comes around it's actually a surprise.
I have done NaNoWriMo twice before, in 2011 and in 2012, both times I lost, so you tell me why I'm trying again?! Last time I was SO close!!! I was like maybe three thousand words away from winning... except my story was in no way close to the end... which in itself would have made me loose, so :P
Last year I was CONSUMED by NaNoWriMo, my life surrounded NaNoWriMo, I breathed in NaNoWriMo and breathed out craziness. I can officially say that I've become obsessed before.
I know many of you APer's are members of NaNo, and I'm not sure if your doing NaNoWriMo this year. But if you are, please give me a shout out!!! You can comment to this maybe, and not even a long comment, all you have to do to tell me your doing NaNo this year is write: :{D See! That's it, just a mustache face.
So, to those who have never done NaNoWriMo, or have never heard of it. It's a contest where you write a 50,000 word novel, all in the month of November. From the 1st to the 30th. You can write anything from a Memoir to a Romance, a Sci-Fi to a Drama. It's a fun challenge which I think every Author should try at least once!
Newbie FAQ:
1Q. Is there a prize if I win?
A: No, it's a contest with yourself, to see if you can do it. The reward is feeling awesome, accomplished, and you can brag :P
2Q: Can I start early?
A: No, that would be cheating *pokes Homey to remind her*
3Q: What happens if I loose?
A: You loose, that's that. You can say you tried, and you can congratulate the people who did win. You still have bragging rights though, because it's still impressive when you try.
4Q: Do I have to plan ahead of time?
A: You don't have to, it could be a totally impromptu story. I will tell you though, that it is harder to right an impromptu story and it helps to plan ahead of time.
5Q: Do I have to donate money to participate
A: Nope, it's an option. I think eventually it would be nice to donate something, because if they don't get enough funds they can't keep up with their sites.
6Q: If I create a membership will it spam my email account?
A: YES! Well... I'm sure their is an option when you sign up to not receive notices and what not. But THEY SEND A MILLION MESSAGES!!! Of course, if you keep up with them they are nice... lots of peps talks and what not. But I would advise that you create a separate account with gmail (simple to create) just for spam. Then you'll have an email account for signing up for anything that requires membership (i.e. other writer sites, real estate web sites, forum web sites, clubs, publishing sites, etc.).
If you have any other questions, I would go to the NaNoWriMo site, they have a FAQ page.
This year, I will win!!! I believe in myself. I have my story all mapped out in my head. I know what's going to happen from start to finish. I have the beginning in my mind and the end! I AM SO EXCITED! I know the real challenge will be converting idea to words, and all the margins in between. I'm SO EXCITED!!! How about you? What's your story idea for this year?
I'm hoping that this year I'll be able to share my NaNo story more with you guys, I know in the past I've kept my stories to myself... I only posting one chapter of my first NaNo story and didn't even bother posting my second story. So... this year!!! Third times the charm ;)
Good luck with your NaNo stories this year Wrimo's! I wish good luck and prosperous writing to you all!!!! May you beat last years accomplishments and just get better every time!!!
Remember to let me know if your doing it this year!!! PLEASE!!!
Good Luck! And my Inspiration be with you!

I actually was told by a friend about this site, and I joined *dundundun*
I've been tweaking the idea for about two or three months and it's one of those things I was debating on writing but then I found this and I think it'll all work out nicely... :D
Oh, for anyone who is interested my name is ImaginaryCandies.
So that's that!
....
Nope, not doing it. Sounds like an awesome idea though! I'm pumped for you! I just think, one, I don't have a clue what I'd write about. Two, it's the wrong season for me. We're just heading into summer AND the busiest time of the year. So no for me :( I would like to do it eventually.
All the best for winning! Tell us how it goes and post the chapters!

I'm maybe kinda doing it
I have an idea (the idea was actually just to add 50000 more words to my story Gene, in case any of you read it), but it is woefully unplanned so we'll see if that actually flies. In any case, I won't have time to actually be on the NaNoWriMo website. Good haps to all of you in your Wrimoing endeavor!
Just Commented Here Anonymously on Accident
I hate it when that happens. I'm not sure whether the anonymous comment or this one will be published first.
Signed up for NaNo too, as you know!
SO EVERYBODY ADD ME! I'm "HomeschoolGirl", per usual. ;D So exciting, I know. And like Kass said--message me and let me know who you are! I thank ya!
And Kass--I'm going to wait! It shall kill me, but I'll wait. :) And I spent some time last night mapping bits and pieces out, and I ACTUALLY THINK I'LL HAVE ENOUGH TO FILL A BOOK. *inhales in shock* Like, maybe even 50,000 words of a book. *faints*
I don't get emails because I unsubscribed to them, which you can do by signing in going to My NaNoWriMo>(dropdown)Account Settings. And then it takes you to a page with your email displayed at the top, then underneath that it says: Which updates would you like to get via email? You can uncheck any boxes you don't want to receive. Just make sure to scroll to the bottom of the page and hit "Save" so it goes through.
That's just for the adult NaNo site, not the YWP (Young Writer's Program), although I'm sure their format is similar. :)
I only know that from poking around on the site, though! Hope that helps anybody who wants to sign up with their regular email. :D
Note: You can also delete your account from that page, which is a nice feature. The YWP doesn't allow you to do that. SO glad I'm on the "grown-up" NaNo now.
So yeah! My contribution.
Love the essay, Kass. And I cannot WAIT to read your story!
