Chapter Twenty-Two:

Three Years Later

Jeffrey sighed. “Oh, I have so much to learn, Elspeth.”

Elspeth, in her quiet and gentle manner, slipped her hand into his and looked up at him. “Then let us learn together,” she said.

“Aye, we must.” He agreed. “Together, the two of us, and the Creator.”

She let her head fall onto his shoulder. “It will be hard, but good.”

                                                   Pitter, patter,

                                                   Pitter, patter,

                                                   We love to hear,

                                                   The rain gently chatter.

He stopped walking, gazed up high,

Saw a life, beyond the sky.

Met a girl, hopes raised high,

Journeyed on, beyond the sky.

Together they traverse through wet and dry.

Ever onward, beyond the sky.

Now they rest, now they move,

Continuing always, beyond the sky.

Ever they journey,

Beyond the sky.

Two days had passed since Archflame had told him the story of the Crown of Ages. Two days of intense training had followed, which Jokk ran his pupil through the toughest war-training he'd been in yet. Varian could feel his sore muscles complaining that he'd been still too long.
