 Prologue

The Queen fairy brushed her tousled golden hair from burning ruby eyes with sudden fatigue. These past few days had been quite horrid, bring weariness and dark holes in the fairy people's hearts. The kingdom of Darkrade had lost many a brother due to human hands trapping the creatures in glass domes.

The Winter's Hand

The wintry sky is clear and bright,
Filled with stars’ angelic light
And whispering o’er the frosted land,
A glacial breath―the winter’s hand

The laughing brook, the gurgling stream
Is wrapped in frigid, silent dream
The pastures, once so warm and lush
Now lie with frosty, lifeless hush.

The squirrels, the bears, in cave or nest,
Are bound in long, extended rest
While foxes dart from tree to tree,
Searching for some friendly lee

The flowers, once with faces gold,

Canto VIII: Return

I thought

I wanted

to be a hero

but

it’s harder

to be

a friend

I fling myself

against

the wall

“Let me

in,

Let me

in!”

But I can’t

Not unless—

I have to talk

to my mom

I close my eyes

“Lord, give me

Courage”

I run out

into the kitchen

“Mom,

do you remember

Arkn?”

“Is he a character

**This was originally a song, but then the people that were reading it said it was too much like poetry, and now I'm not sure if it's enough like poetry to be a poem. So I'm not sure what it is. Hopefully something somewhat amusing. :P**

The Homeschool Family

Submitted by Jackie West on Wed, 06/23/2010 - 12:35

This is a story that is based off of my family-somewhat.

One of my older sisters helped me with it.

           --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Look at that family! It's too big for me to stand!" said a girl as she stood in the store parking lot, loading her car with groceries. She paused to gesture at the fifteen passenger van that had just parked nearby.

*A/N* Hola to all who live within the magical realm of Apricots! The first four of these are mostly "oceanic" because of my family's recent trip to the beach for Father's Day, many of them being based on some of the experiences there.  Lemme know what y'all think! (My favorites are Free and A Spoon ;-)

One: Just out of reach.

For the affect I search, search wide search deep

So incomplete.

Perfect flaws, scars seep,

Just out of reach.

Black birds fly soar high,

Just out of reach.

For the feel I search, search wide search deep

So incomplete.

Anxiety stalls, stops quick,

Bravery just out of reach.

The life in need of saving

Just out of reach.

For the words I search, search wide search deep

So incomplete.
