The Overlords: II

After that conversation Gethin withdrew into a silent world. His face was marked with a sullen, empty stare. Except when it was absolutely essential, Gethin cut himself off from talking to anyone. If a nod was sufficient, he would give a nod rather than say a word.

Liadan would have tried to be with him in his sorrow, to comfort him if she could. But he would not allow it. In his sorrow, he turned inward.

The Musings of a Newly 15 year old

Yesterday was my first day of my 15 year on the world. I don't feel much different than I did 2 days ago, when I was a mere 14 year old. I haven't gotten a sudden wealth of wisdom or suddenly understood why I am here or what the purpose to life is. I feel more as if I fit in my own skin, that 15 is the age I belong in for now, and I am content with that. The things that seemed oh so important last year are now dim memories in my mind, things I hardly think about any more.

Sailing

I want to know everything
I want to see his tears
I want him to let me see everything
But he just fears

Fears that if we get too close
He won’t be able to say goodbye
He doesn't want to take that jump
He thinks the risks are too high

So he gets into his boat
And waves goodbye to me
As I’m drowning at the shore

Now I’m no longer drowning
But sailing out at sea
Happy and contented because I know
Someday there will be someone
Who will come sailing here for me

Dear Homeschooling Friends,

Last month I mentioned choosing a topic to write about for the season.  Then, after hearing all your ideas, I promptly became very busy and did not follow through with picking a topic.

My appologies.

A third of the season is over, and only two months remain.

To start off, I think we'll stick with a simple topic, and perhaps do one of the more complicated topics during the summer.

So, I need your help to make the final decision.  These are the contestants for Spring:

Evening from the Front Porch

                                                       After hot and sunny days,
                                                            After work and fun,
                                                        Come the slanting rays
                                                           Of the evening sun.
