The War Within

Submitted by Wings of Eternity on Tue, 04/19/2011 - 04:13

Note: Here is a new piece that came to me bit by bit the other day. It centers around spiritual warfare and that good will triumph over evil. Sorry if it is a bit intense, but that is part of the emotion I was trying to convey.

Smoldering eyes,

Tell unending lies,

That pin me down with shame.

Talons attack,

Pain is back,

Yet I was not to blame.

Arms raised,

The Second Publication

Submitted by E on Mon, 04/18/2011 - 02:22

My story, Planes, has been published in the Homeschool Literary Quarterly, the online magazine for homeschoolers that The Jolliest Time of the Year was published in. Upon reading my acceptance letter, my joy was immediate. I emitted an extremely girlish squeak, which made my brother mildly concerned for my mental health. It created even more concern whenever I proceeded to jump up in down first in my chair and then on my own feet, squealing mommymommymommymommymommy whilst I went to find (guess who?) my mother.

The Cost of Freedom. Chapter 5.

Jacob and Estelle waved good-bye to the Indians and Freya and Ianthe. The Indians had promised to sneak the two girls back in after dark. Estelle was amazed at the girls choice to stay. She could never do that. As Estelle brought her hand down slowly, Jacob caught it.

“Thank you,” he mouthed to her. She nodded happily. She looked shyly up at him.

“I've never had a brother. Want to be adopted?” she asked. Jacob grinned from ear to ear.

“Sure! I'd love to!”

“Well, then, consider yourself adopted! I love you big brother!”

Leviticus: VI. Brought Near

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sun, 04/17/2011 - 09:48
{the final installment of Leviticus - a summary, in verse. My next post will be about A Mysterious Jar...)

A nature of sin, a soiled soul,

A people hostile against their God.

The relationship He initiated is broken,

Their unholiness requires a rod.

Their sin deserved His immense wrath,

For His perfection could not be near
Their dirt and filth

Demanded the death of all this earthly sphere.

The altar, stained with blood.

An animal’s death was required,

The shedding of blood for forgiveness.

With the Words "Tornado Warning."

Today I was sitting at my computer typing up a story, when the weather station called. My dad answered it and after listening, told everyone to get to the middle of the house because there was a tornado near our house. We all ran to the downstairs bathroom, which is in the middle of the house and sat down (thank goodness it's so big, I have six sibs). If you know me at all, I have a HUGE fear of tornados, and I am not stressing that point at all.

The Losers of Lorien

Okay, okay, I'll admit this is a little juvenile, but years ago (when I was the sprity age of thirteen or fourteen), I really annoyed people by sending out these spoofs I had written about everyone's favorite films.

Don't judge a person by just one story... ; )
Hope you get a laugh or two out of it!

The Losers of Lorien

On the eves of the forest of Lorien, the Fellowship pauses.
