The Dead are Silent

Note: This poem was a bit of an experiment. I actually had the idea for a snippet of a story that I wanted to base this poem on. I ended up writing a short story and then writing a poem based on the story. I feel that the poem is way better than the story, but if anyone is interested, I will post the story as well. Enjoy!
Captured in those soulless depths,
your eyes betray the pain.
As some of you may know, I am quite interested in the field of filmmaking, and you can find some of my films here: www.vimeo.com/meridianpictures
{Spring Theme! ... and I have no idea what I'll be posting after this. I really need to finish all the ideas I have...}
Note: Here is a new piece that came to me bit by bit the other day. It centers around spiritual warfare and that good will triumph over evil. Sorry if it is a bit intense, but that is part of the emotion I was trying to convey.
Smoldering eyes,
Tell unending lies,
That pin me down with shame.
Talons attack,
Pain is back,
Yet I was not to blame.
Arms raised,
Today I was sitting at my computer typing up a story, when the weather station called. My dad answered it and after listening, told everyone to get to the middle of the house because there was a tornado near our house. We all ran to the downstairs bathroom, which is in the middle of the house and sat down (thank goodness it's so big, I have six sibs). If you know me at all, I have a HUGE fear of tornados, and I am not stressing that point at all.
This poem is dedicated to Kassady and HomeschoolGirl. I was not going to publish this on the web until I got it copyrighted as a part of my poetry collection, but I decided to make an exception with this poem. This is a thank you for always commenting on my work! This poem I wrote a while ago and it is based off of the movie Prince of Persia. It is about Dastan's and Tamina's love and destiny.
Note: As promised to HomeschoolGirl and Kassady, I am uploading some more poems. This is a few years old, but this poem won honorable mention in a poetry contest. It was written and dedicated to my grandfather before he passed away. Enjoy!
To each of us does God assign,
A glorious being of His design.
To whisper advice into our ears,
And pacify our endless fears.
**The idea for this came to me a few days ago, so I sat down and wrote it! Hope you enjoy!
Kneeling down beside her bed
She bends her head in prayer
Black hair straight as silk
Quivers from His stare
"Father, please lead me,
In the coming months.
This place is new and foriegn.
But in you my heart trusts."
Skin as dark as night
Hands pressed firm together
She shines her face heavenbound
And makes a wish forever
"God, please understand.
Preface
This story is based on my Two best friends and me in ten years! My inspriation was us, and my best friend HomeschoolGirl started her own (The Three), then I built mine a little after hers, trying the best I could to make it different! But hers is amazing! Much better I must say. Hopefully my other friend Liddyanne, will write her own version! Then we'll have three different versions!
I hope you enjoy!
