Daydreams

Somewhere out there
Under the ocean
Up in the air
Over that hill
Among the trees
Something is calling
Calling to me

Its a bird singing its song
Its the wind in the grass
Its the frog in the pond

Its everything I'm not
And everything I want to be
Its everything I've got
And its everything I need

Floating Down the River

Dear Homeschooling Friends,

The picture above is of me on my last day of work at Thomas More College. I am standing in a flower bed in front of my beloved barn, in the same place where last year I interviewed students for a DVD we produced about the College. One of my professors snapped the picture. A world away now.

Here, love is!

Here, fortune is!
Here, yet never found
I think, an expected boon
That rarely comes ‘round

In verse, love is:
Exotic! Passionate! Prized!
A quick candle flame
Attainable, readily realized
But easily lost or missed
A tiny shooting star
Hidden in the immeasurable endless sky

Here, love is!
Already in my tenacious grasp
Common, homely, wholly ordinary
A flannel blanket wrap
In front of the fire on a cold winter’s day
Only noticed or missed when
The comforting material is absent

Hear My Plea

Lord I feel as if I’m going to cry
And not sure the reason why
Lost, unsure, worried, and frightened
My head is shaking; my heart weakened
I am stumbling over paths unsure
Blind, my eyes are sealed without cure
I can’t see the way ahead of me
Only you can take my hand and lead
For I am deaf, stumbling, and feeble
Lead me, Steady me, Strengthen me
I need your love and guidance
I strive for kindness and gentleness
Save me O Lord for I am greatly lost
Turn my gaze to your saving cross

Grandpa Bill

I thought I saw you walking next to me, as I stepped upon the Chapel floor
Turns out I was wrong though, for what I saw was only the Chapel door.
I thought I heard your voice behind me, and so I quickly glanced around
But I was wrong once again… and the bare wooden pew was all I found.
I thought I saw your small red car, while we were on our way back home
I was sure I sighted some short grey hair, but I was wrong, and felt alone.

Beyond the Unknown: Chapter Two

After about an hour of walking Amy stopped. "Something isn't right....", she said to Matt shaking her head, "We should have been out of the forest in fifteen minutes, max."
Matt shrugged and motioned to a small cabin in the distance, "I don't know what happened but, there is a cabin over there. Maybe the person that lives there could give us directions."

Beyond the Unknown: Chapter One

Amy lifted her backpack a little higher on her shoulder. It had become weighed down with all of the little trinkets she bought at the Star Wars Convention. Beside her Matt was running all around swinging his imitation light saber. She couldn't help laughing, he just looked so silly. They were walking down a road that followed the edge of the Beyond forest. They had gone about 1.5 miles and Amy was getting a little winded so she stopped to rest on a rock. A small black lump laid on the ground next to her and she bent to look at it. A scream followed moments later.

Beyond the Unknown: Prologue

Sitting all alone on the edge of the wood was a small creature. Nothing you would find normal in the middle of Ohio. Its fur was a dirty black, specked with the smallest hint of white. Eyes, wider than any normal animals, were a very pure, clear blue. Its nose was white as were the wings that graced its back. It raised its head, which until this moment had been lowered to the ground, searching for something lost. A rustle was heard coming from the woods. Scared it started to run for cover but, a large black hand scooped it up. The hand was connected to a tall black figure.

Wonder why.

I wrote this when I was going through a hard time in my life and I figured you guys might enjoy reading it.

Wondering why
Birds fly high
Wondering why
Clouds float by
Wondering why
God resides anywhere but here
What would it feel like to have Him near?

If he so disappointed with mankind
Why did he create the signs
That I see everywhere today
I know I can't just turn away
