A boring day

The snow is falling and is deep
I sit and sigh as I watch TV
A bunch of reruns that I've seen before
I lean back on my pillow and hear myself snore

I look back at the Christmas Tree
Wondering what my presents will be
But Christmas doesn't feel like it's coming
Though it's only a few days away.

It feels like winter will never end
That new shows will never come on
That through the dull hours
Christmas won't come.

Perfect

(I have this thing with writing Christmas stories...this is the third I've ever written and the only one without animals)

Ivan was standing at the counter, whistling along with Bing Crosby’s ‘White Christmas’.
He looked through the small apartment’s living room to the front window. By the light of the street lamp, he could see there was no snow—just cold, cracked pavement. He turned away, muttering under his breath.
“I’d really hoped for a white Christmas this year.”

Moon shines

Moonlight shines,
The sun blinds,
And the river flows,
And the bird crows.

When the wind blows,
When the leaves fall,
God knows,
You look around and then you don’t feel so tall.

Starring up at a cloud,
Dreaming of the day,
When you feel proud,
From something you say.

Rain drops surrounding me,
I sit in the rain with no plea,
As the rain drops fall and make a huge sea,
The rain stops and a there’s rainbow now.

Can We Divorce Our Identity From Independence?

Submitted by Sarah L on Tue, 12/18/2007 - 12:00

America based its very foundations and Constitution on the idea that every individual person has God-given rights which no man may infringe upon. Our constitution upholds the value of every man and his right to life, liberty, and property. Logically then, follows the question: Do we, as Americans, lose the strength, appreciation, and necessity of relying on others because we stress so firmly the value of our individuality and independence? Many people think it impossible to live totally independent of others. “Independence?” said Bernard Shaw, “That’s middle class blasphemy.

Confession

As I stand in line, waiting for the sacrament of Penance to be administered to me, I examine my consience, trying to remember all my sins. As I think back on them, I marvel on how such a small thing, like simply avoiding looking at a magazine or biting back a selfish, hateful, word can cause such a massive internal struggle. Trying hard not fall... and then it happens.

Our young men and women

While we sleep in peace
On a quiet winter night
Men die in the deep
As they bravely fight.

When we wake up in the morning
And when we grumble and whine
The soldiers in Iraq are fighting
against the terrorist crime.

We care not about what's going on
We just sit and complain and yawn.
While the soldiers are giving up their lives.
Only for one.

If we have not a family member in battle
We do not appreciate
The work that they do for us.
As they fight against war and hate.

Temptation

I am Temptation
I feel no regret, but you will
I come in all shapes and sizes
I am Temptation

I work threw your peers
I will you to have sex
I entice you to do drugs
I know no boundaries
I am Temptation

I go hand in hand with the devil
I watch lives fall apart and grin
I push friends away from caring friends
I see bright futures disappear
I am Temptation
