Scottish Emeralds

Submitted by Kay J Fields on Fri, 05/14/2010 - 21:37

LoriAnn posted her contest story, so here is mine, personally Its  one of my favorites.

Alex was running. She dove around a corner and slid on the dirt and rock beneath her feet. Behind her she could hear the pounding footfalls and heavy breathing of her pursuer as he chased her through the town of Emery.

            “Alex!”

Hope

Hope

Intertwined in your life
Beating every beat
Stepping every step
Moving with your feet

A greatly respected thing
Something inevitable
Never able to stop
Things can be regrettable

But this little bundle
This tiny little pack
So small yet big
Clinging to your back

Born in every baby
Crashed in every wave
Stretching across mountains
Light in every cave

It may be hard to hold
For our hands are very small
But our hearts are wide open

Finals time

Submitted by Christa on Fri, 05/14/2010 - 15:20

Oh woe! Woe is us!

Weep the students dreadfully

We hath our finals coming up

And little time to study

The sun doth shine, so lovely

And the weather sings of spring

But we have much to do inside

And little time for loitering

Odds and Ends

*I feel like such a copycat...but for the record, I have been planning to do this for a while. I hereby follow in the footsteps of certain APers before me and share with you some random odds and ends that have been swept up from the floor of my imagination; or rather, from the pages of my writing journal.

-Quite Contrary-

Come on in,
Fill your plate!
Just don't forget
To lose the weight.

the sea

Submitted by Sarah on Thu, 05/13/2010 - 07:17

Crystal waves

from a crystal sea

come a crashing over me.

Come they swift

from afar off.

The water feels crisp

I float in the trough

of a giant wave

buoyantly carried aloft

balancing in the spray

completely safe.

Ever and always drawn to the sea

in love with the waves

and with the spray so salty.

I wade out waist deep

to stand in the breakers

surf on the waves,

plunge myself deep

under the surface

in perfect peace.

Sad to leave

The Cost of Freedom: Chapter 1.

Jacob Zalear was sitting down to dinner with Estelle Hontoas' family. Suddenly, there came a pounding on the door.

"Open up, or we'll knock this door down!"

Jacob's chair clattered to the floor as he stood up. His face turned pale. Estslle rose and beckoned to him. They left the room and headed down an escape tunnel in the back of the house. They came up in the woods out back.

"Come," Estelle said, beckoning to Jacob.

"We have practiced this often before you came. I meet my parents over by that tree."
