Emptying the Great Hall

I stare at the notice, blinking once, twice, thrice.  Since I first saw it, I’ve tried to wrap my mind around it all, but I can’t—not yet.

I turn away and wander down the hall. Ten years’ worth of adventures adorns the walls, tales of knights, dragons and damsels, and strange worlds beyond understanding. Some of these works will be rolled up and taken to new locations; others will remain, quietly gathering dust.

"What exactly are they going to do with me?" Rynere demanded as Sorren led them through a small, wooden door and into a dark hallway.

"Nothing. If you'll pay attention -"

"You haven't given me any -"

"You're not very patient, you know that?" Tass leisurely stepped around a corner, where the trio met a flight of stairs. "How'd they deal with you back in your village? Give you to the old village widow?"

Rynere glanced at him suspiciously.

I have to say I was extremely shocked when I opened my email and found the dreadful "Announcment." Dun dun dunnnn. I mean, how much more epic can you get? After reading it (and my reading was puncuated with many "NO. SERIOUSLY?!"s) I came on here and read it again with the same outcome. I felt sad.

Sad because ApricotPie was something I was so proud of. I would literally tell people, "Oh, and I write for this site, called ApriotPie. My name is Sarah Anne on it, go search me." Half of them wouldn't, but some of them did, and are now members on here.

The problem is, you’ve got to change the way you live entirely, he said.

I don’t understand, she said.

It’s not just about the visible anymore. Every moment is sacred, important. Even the secret things that nobody sees.

What do you mean?

I mean you’re no longer alone. You’re never actually by yourself. Everywhere you are, you bring God with you. You bring your eternal brothers and sisters. They may not even know it, but every action you take affects them. You can’t be an island anymore. You have to stop and think about everything.

That sounds so hard.

Thoughts on the Closing

As many if not all of you know by now, our dearly beloved Ben has announced that AP will be closing its doors come this October.

So many people here seem to be resigned to this, and I suppose I can understand why. But for myself, I'm simply reeling in disbelief! How can we leave this behind? How can I lose contact with all the people I've met here and the wonderful stories I've connected with? It's just not right!
