Excerpt from "Merry Taylor on Cape Cod"

Chapter One

Meredith was eighteen and restless. She loved her home; she loved her family. Her girlhood had been golden. But she felt that the golden part of her life was only the center of the rose, and something inside of her was opening - expanding - unpetalling - and it made her heart beat fast with anticipation. She didn’t know what it was; she didn’t know where she was to go. But she had to go. Yes, she had to go.

In spite of much devastation, disbelief, heartbreak, and wepping on my part, some of you may have noticed that I have thus far refrained from commenting on the bombshell that Mr. Ben Kniaz recently dropped on us.  There are a few reasons for this:

Honed was Durfil’s skill in shaping stone, and with utmost care he shaped the clear crystals which he had found in the pool of Shêvannah. Every stroke, every file, every cut he made with precision. One he made each day, and on the seventh day, he presented them to Áronyeh: seven perfect gems, each the color of the sky. Áronyeh then gave one gem to each of them: to Rayôn and to Qeyrah his wife; to Vúnyeðel and to Shereynah his wife; to Durfil, to Qeylen, and to Rhonnah, though she was still an infant in her mother’s arms.

Chapter one: If I was the president…

If I was the president, I would make it illegal for bad guys to have real guns, so they would only be able to have plastic ones, then the police men wouldn’t get shot by them.

If I was the president, It wouldn’t be called the white house, I would change it to the pink house and boys aren’t aloud in, and if they tried to get in I would have invisible ninjas come and put them in jail for the rest of forever!

Arassuil II, grandson of Aragorn Telcontar, fixed his gaze on Halmir and Gilloth. "Remember, don't lose your temper, no matter how this woman tries your patience."

Halmir fingered his sword hilt. "Rather would I ride to battle like my forefather Éomer than sit and listen to insults of our land and ancestors, but I will attempt to restrain myself."

"Kathy Green, Representive of the United Nations, to see King Arassuil II of Gondor, Halmir King of Rohan, and Gilloth of the remnant of the Eldar."

"Enter," Arassuil called.
