Jack" glanced quickly at his the police officers should be coming according to p>

Jackie pulled up her hood. “He’d better be right. If he’s not, I’ll throttle him.”

“If he’s not, just hope that your legs don’t fail,” Jack said as he wrapped his arms around the tree branch he was on.

“I don’t want them to fail anyways,” Jackie replied, steadying herself on another branch nearby.

Jack peered out into the darkness. “I see police car lights, and they’re right on time.”

Once there was a boy, a very annoying, not-very-bright little boy. He was my enemy; I did not enjoy his company or his personality… at all.

He was always swaggering about, bragging about some little “achievement” he’d made. He boasted and bragged; swaggered and smirked, and most of all, insulted people who actually had lives… I would roll my eyes and walk away, thinking that someone should teach that little smug pig a thing or two. (Preferably many things.)

**These were all short, so I thought I'd post them together.**

[1.] "The Arborist's Dream"
The cherry tree, I dreamt, was blighted.
Its bark was bubbling up, frothing pink at each joint.
The disease was making it turn into a cherry soda, all fizzy.
I, the arborist, with my ladder climbed
and trimmed, and pruned, and treated
but in vain.
I could not find the source and kill it,
so the tree was going to die.

I hate to post two things one-on-top-of the other, but I am about to burst.

I HAVE NOW OFFICIALLY BEEN PUBLISHED IN-not a newsletter for my homeschool group-BUT IN A LITERARY MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!!

The feeling can only been compared to when I bought my horse. In other words--complete and infinite joy.

I now officially have cause to jump around the computer screaming like a deranged monkey. Very professional.

If you would like to see the story, the magazine is online. Check out www.homeschoolliterary.com

Will I ever truly know you

No, I will never

You may tell me secrets

But it won't last forever

I am a mystery

And so are you

I can't explain

Most things you do

Your words confuse me

More than one time

And, lacking your presence,

I am just fine

So...explain to me

Who are you really

Am I friends with you

Or am I stealing

Pushing on a heartless theft

Pointing out that all is wrong

The Greatest Friend

Submitted by Madeline on Fri, 11/26/2010 - 13:28

A great friend is someone who

You can call when you have news

And I completely see that friend

Right in front of me-it's you

We've shared laughter so fun and light

We've shared sorrow and all our gains

We've shared memories and swapped stories

We've told each other of our greatest pains

Chapter 5

I lay sprawled out on my bed, wishing that Sunday would be over quickly. I lay there with my phone, going through the ring tones.Wedding music was the next one on the list, then it was the smurf theme song, next was an electric gatar solo, then ride of the valkries, after that was Ode to Joy, and then a jazz beat, the sound of a ball bouncing, harp, piono concerto, Violins, and a drum. I sighed, none of them sounded good to me.
