Jack

 {written September 2011. Jack is based – looks and mannerisms, anyway – off of a man we served food to at a church in the Seattle area. My aunt’s family took me with them when they went to help, with a program that offers food and shelter in churches to homeless men that are seeking to get back on their feet. It was a neat experience, though I’m not sure how much spiritual help these men were getting. My mind wandered to Les Miserables often, and the things the Bishop said – some of Sam’s words in this are based on that. So, without further ado, meet Jack.}

Half & Half: chapter 2

Chapter two

I had no idea, how I was going to go to Public School... Worse yet! TWO Public Schools! Or maybe just one, I wasn't sure at the moment.

But I have to admit, I was more concerned for my siblings. I was sure that they'd have a harder time then I would, and I didn't want anything to happen to them. Sandro was going to have the easiest time... well maybe? He was sort of violent, and both my mom and I were afraid that he'd push many kids over and be kicked out of Day Care.

There it is

i tell of a time when all singing and dancing ceased.

the turmoil was brought by the threat of a monstrous beast.

no longer did children play, a silence engulfed the town.

they needed a hero who could bring the great monster down.

the hero rode up on a horse that was black as day.

he fully intended to drive the terrible beast away.

he drew out a sword and he shouted a challenge out:

"beast, i give warning, i'll meet thee and smash thy snout."

the dragon laconically twisted its tail and hissed:

Chapter 14

Nordic Malushomo sat on his horse, waiting.

And a bird that had apparently flown too close to the sun rudely interrupted his waiting.

As Alegis arrived on the scene, Nordic was swatting wildly at the fireball of a canary.

So he put him out of his misery.

Not dead mind you, but out cold.

Shortly after these proceedings there arrived Sora and Nomen, panting hard.

Gremlin House Pt. 2

"I just read the most curious article, dear," Matthew said as he took a freshly-baked gingersnap from the rack.

His wife raised an eyebrow with a smile. "What about?"

"A house," Matthew said through a mouthful of cookie. "Inhabited by gremlins."

"Gremlins?" Anne's tone was somewhere between curious and disbelieving.

"Tiny men, I think."

"A fiction, then."

Matthew shook his head and put the rest of the gingersnap in his mouth. "Something local -fairly local, anyway. They're outside city limits, but closer to us than any other town."

 take my heart

here it is,

beating hard

Yours

be my Love

i've given in

all i've got

for You

let my soul break

until i crave

unashamed grace

of You

drown my fear

in Your tears

my hurt

in You

give flight to the doubt

that holds me

captive

from You

take my hand

draw me near

closer

with You

lead me on

show me how

to take the steps

You want

Smiles

Everyone has a smile.

Sometimes you don't use it.

Sometimes it's not sincere.

Sometimes it doesn't look much like a smile.

It takes a good person to have a good smile,

But it takes someone special to have a smile you can return.

When you see a smile, you just see it,

Unless it's a good one.

Then you feel happier inside.

If it's a contagious smile,

You'll start smiling, too.

I say work on smiling.

Smile more often.

Who knows,

It may change the world.
