Chapter 16

Nicole

Nicole starred down at the newly named Jendy.

"Joseph, I love her!" she said.

"Good!"

"But I'm not sure she will like being pent up inside!" She said thinking of pent up Jendy, looking longingly to the door.

"Of course not! That's why we'll put her outside!" he said as if this was the simplest thing in the world.

"But Jo! I won't have enough time to walk her!"

The Tide

You carry it like a secret inside you,
like a tale you struggle to tell.
Sometimes I think that you don’t remember,
how the water would swallow and swell.

Still the world carries on right beside you,
and each winter breathes fresh fallen snow,
and someday your chest will break open,
breathing secrets along with the flow.

If you limp and you stumble I’ll catch you,
if you’re willing to let me get close.
There’s a chance that you may become weightless,
and find freedom in being exposed.

Hiya!

Well, I'm trying a new story. Hopefully I'll keep writing it. I've got a vague idea of what I want to happen, and what this story is about. As it goes on, it'll be clear just what "talents" means. Annnnddd....I'd love to hear your thoughts. Comments?? It helps immensely when ya'll comment, because knowing people are reading is SO encouraging. Thanks!!

Overlords part 8

Kester was pacing. Again. It was the only thing that helped him. There were so many decisions to make! But the biggest question on his mind right now was how could he help Liadan?
He would have thought that she would be grateful, rejoicing to see some one who actually cared enough. But no.
Surely she realized what she had done? Perhaps she was shy?
Kester’s pacing progressed to stomping.
‘’ I can’t understand it!’’ he shouted as several advisors stood by. ‘’I was sure she would want my help!’’

Millie sighed as she walked towards the edge of town. She had just finished a long day of sewing with the town's dressmaker. Tuesdays were always really hard days, and this was no exception. Not only were the hours long, but business in the shop was slow so that Millie had few excuses to leave her stitching to help customers. Now she was done. But instead of feeling relieved, she was far from it; she had yet to walk home in the bitter February cold.

Day

Clock ticking

Water pouring

Feet pounding

Dishes rattling

Voices calling

Phone ringing

Car running

Dog barking

in this madness of a

weekday morning

the noise swirls--

swells like a brass band

approaching the finale

as the Dog ceases

barking

Car begins driving

Phone stops ringing

Voices chattering

Dishes shining

Feet tapping

Water quieting

as day continues onward

to the Clock ticking
