The Taverner Chronicles: One Summer's Night, Three

Submitted by Marlene E. Schuler on Fri, 12/14/2012 - 00:48

The dancing went well into the night. There were many different dances; waltzing, jigs, bouncing lines and slow, dignified ones that were almost like taking a refined walk. Millie didn't know all of them- but her partners (and there were surprisingly many) were always willing to guide her through them. It was towards the small hours of the morning when Millie noticed that the Doctor was not amongst their number. Though she was enjoying herself immensely, such an observation cast a dim cloud over her fun.

Hello all, and a blessed season of Advent to everyone! I am so sorry for neglecting to post here... the Taverner Chronicles is almost finished, but I've been posting the chapters on my blog, www.charlieandmewrite.blogspot.com
You can finish it there if you can't wait to get to (almost) the end, or you can watch it slowly trickle here. :)

Nothing to Say

Submitted by Elizabeth Anne on Tue, 12/11/2012 - 21:11

What should I say?
What should I write?
I open my mind,
But it opens a fight.

It rages to
And rages fro.
I can not stop,
I have to go.

When will this battle
Come to an end?
When will my thinking
Clear and ascend?

My thoughts are my own,
But my thoughts care not.
They throw me to and fro
As I jump from the pot.

Out of the pot
And into the fire.
My mind runs away
As the flames rise higher.

Winter Holiday Study 1&2

Submitted by Kassady on Wed, 12/05/2012 - 21:59

ing about the different winter holidays around the world and of different cultures and it's very, very, very interesting to say the least. At this time I have learned about Bodhi day (A Buddhist celebration that was on the 8th) and Hanukkah (A Jewish celebration that consists of eight days, which began this year on the 9th). They are both so very interesting, and I want to share my new found knowledge with you all.

Immersing in Imagination: Chapter Five

Submitted by Maddi on Wed, 12/05/2012 - 05:55

Hey peoples!

I am very encouraged with all the comments! And I would love any criticisms/feedback. I tried to write the dialogue as realistically as I could. I will run to the suggestions/hard critique with open arms.

P.S. And when you get to the dramatic bits (or what I'm calling dramatic) it’s better if you listen to some dramatic music. 

Elise lay restless on her bed. She couldn't shake the feeling that it was all a dream. Nor could she stop thinking about it, turning and twisting it around in her mind, trying to understand it.

Thieves: Chapter 13

Jovlin was asleep when they arrived at Mayli’s destination. Had she been awake she would have seen great wonders beneath the dragon’s beating wings. The desert slowly disappeared among bushes, trees, rivers, lakes, streams, and all kinds of life. The trees beneath them were small at first, but steadily grew larger the longer they flew above them. As the trees grew closer together, the dragon slowed her flight so a steady glide through the air, moving only as the wind touched her wings.

Restraint

Chelsea wanted to be brave.

When they told her she couldn’t, her vision abruptly grew razor sharp. Her eyes focused on her father’s glasses, which were slipping down his nose. He noticed her stare and quickly fixed them.

“But I…” She whispered. The words were stolen from her breath. Her heart was racing, and her palms were clammy. She brushed her hair off her neck.

“We think it’s best,” Her father continued, “If you do what Sammie did. She’s a wonderful housewife, with beautiful children.”

She hadn’t wanted to be like her sister. She had hoped—

Reaching

Ah, another one of my cliche poems about dreams! I'd love a comment :)
--------------------------
Reaching

Sometimes I wonder in whimsical words
While the rest the world sleeps
About things of tomorrow
Sometimes I imagine
That the smiles of today
Were of more consequence
That they’ll be remembered tomorrow

But I know, just know
That they won’t
That today is all about
Biding my time
Until the horizon is here
Until I can tell
That my future has arrived

The Glorious Abyss

I would love to hear your thoughts/advice! Comments make my day (:!

The Glorious Abyss

The glorious abyss, the lonesome dark
Imprinting on all its fearsome mark
The unknown that terrifies
Stealing the light from your eyes
Robbing the travelers of their spark

It woos and entices with the obscure
Making the firm suddenly unsure
The travelers, the“brave”, they fear
They look upon the cautious with a jeer
They are infected and know no cure
