An Alarming Amount of Poetry (Part the Second)

More Than Anything

I love you more than anything
Which is to say, nothing
I was left with it
And now I'm just barely
Teetering on the edge of nothing
Turning into something again
But the doubt comes
And the doubt goes
How can I love you more than anything
When I have nothing else to love?
But then the sunlight comes peeking back through
In the form of your smile
And, I don't know, I just know
That I can

Greek and Roman-Chapter VI: The Sword

TITUS looked at his Uncle Flavius. He was excited and scared; excited from seeing a real trial and scared because his Uncle Flavius would act differently when he that Judge Senator Flavius. Several servants carried Uncle Flavius in a sedan. A curtain covered him on both sides so no one could see him. The sedan moved towards the Rostra, a platform for speakers to address the crowd. It was also used for trials. When Flavius stepped out of the sedan, the mob started to quiet down after hearing that a ‘Christian’ was about to go on trial.

An Alarming Amount of Poetry (and not for the faint of heart)

Desperately

I wore my heels
Showed up on time
He said I looked devine

The evening wore
A simple dress
I said it looked a mess

The chariot was
A shiny car
It didn't have to take us far

We held hands
For a short time
He had his and I had mine

Broken vowels
Put to the test
I said, "You know how to pick the best."

Acne-faced
And levi jeans
Yet there he was across from me

Doughnut shop
At five-past-nine
Boy I dreaded that goodbye

A Few Victorian Poets

By the Victorian Era in England, millions of years had been allowed to creep into Church doctrine, and many pastors embraced the Gap, Day-Age, Tranquil Flood and Local Flood theories. Liberal theology, teaching against the Virgin Birth and Resurrection, as well as denying the historicity of Genesis 1-11, had already begun to creep in.

Just Forget to Breath

Submitted by Maddi on Sat, 08/10/2013 - 07:42

Time, time, time
Takes breath, breath, breath
Filling your days
You just forget to breath

The stress comes out in giggles
Making your friends think you’re insane
And you long to scream, shout out
It’s not all real, you say

Hormones creep up on you,
Driving you nuts
In circles and circles
You get so dizzy
You Just Forget to
Breath.

Vegies or sugar doesn’t make it any better,
Nor the many hours of required brainpower,
Heaping to the pile of stress, worry, nervousness.

It's a Bittersweet Thing

1. When He’s Happy
The kind of smile you want to keep around
Crinkling eyes invite you in
Envelope you in understanding
Silent laughter, it makes the room glow

2. Too Much
You look so tired
Why can’t you just sleep
Tell them to figure it out
You don’t have to hold their hand
Go, darling, take a rest
It’s going to be okay.
