2013 to 2014: Transitioning our mindsets

“2013 In Review”. This keeps popping up everywhere, so I decided to create my own review… Fortunately, this year was pretty interesting for me. Enjoy the highlights of my life this year!
This year I…
Had a fun time in January with my friends as we had get-togethers and posted the pics all over FB.
In February I spent a week in Lafayette with my mom at the Faith Biblical Counseling Training where we got to catch up with old friends and learn new things (such as the fact that I’m a bit allergic to cats… yay)

"Have you got the information?" Evander asked, as soon as I walked in the door.
I shot him a look. "I'm hardly at home for a few seconds and you've already pounced on me?"
"Excuse me, sunshine, this is important."
"Yeah, well so's my sanity. Lay off a bit, okay?" I sighed, sitting down in a chair. "But yeah, I have the information. Happy?"
He let out a breath. "Thank heavens. I heard about the rebel...Charlotte, if this puts you in danger, I..."

New Year's Resolutions

New Year’s resolutions. Those goals we make every year: to try new things, to change those things about ourselves we don’t like. Sometimes they’re a bit too lofty – going from exercising once in while to working out for an hour a day doesn’t usually stick. Sometimes it seems as if we sell ourselves short, settling for something that doesn’t truly make a change, just so that we can say we kept our resolution.

2014

I woke up on December 31st feeling relieved. 2013 was not an awful year until I realized that I was giving my all to someone who didn't feel the same way, and that my friends didn't feel like my friends anymore, and that I had sorely neglected my overall education for my first two years of high school.
New Year's Eve was wonderful. I went to an old friend's house and we shot off a firework display that would put Macy's New Year's Eve to shame. I felt optimistic, I felt happy. It was 2014, and I would get a fresh start.

13 Accomplishments, 14 Goals

When you think of a year as a whole, in the scope of things it doesn’t seem like a lot has happened. I mean, you’ve basically just spent 365 days watching a bunch of television and checking a bunch of email. Or, in my personal case, watching a bunch of television, a bunch of One Direction videos, and checking a bunch of email.

I wish I were kidding.

But when you break it down piece by piece, as I just did a moment ago composing this blog post in my head (it probably won’t translate very well) you did, well, a lot. Here’s my list of the top 13 things I did in 2013:

The Meaning of Life

He crosses his arms
And hopes to die.
“What is life?”
He looks at the air for
An answer, and finds it.
He looks at the sky for
An answer, and finds it.
He looks at the ground for
An answer, and finds it.
He looks at the trees for
An answer, and finds it.
“For me…
To live is Christ,
To die is gain.”

New Year's Eve

'Tis the last day of the year,
And we're all happy,
All dancing and full of cheer.
Sometimes our comments are sappy,
As we express,
Our love for one another.
But more or less,
Happy just being together.
Baking, laughing and spinning,
We hope and pray,
Our year has been fulfilling.
And we we hope that everyday,
Of the coming year is full,
Leaving behind everything dull.
