A different kind of Sea

Submitted by Keziah Frye on Tue, 06/05/2018 - 17:26

Riding on a sea of dreams,
reality ready to burst, at its seams.
Bending the world to our minds,
discovering new places, species, and kinds.

Riding on a sea of waves,
a seagull that screeches, squawks, and raves.
Dolphins that together jump and play,
While whales moan and groan all the long day.

Riding on a sea of sand,
dividing the world between water and land.
Creatures scuttering 'cross the small white grains,
while sea lions bask with their non-existent manes.

More Than A Million Words

When I first came to my office in London, I noticed him. He sat in the market place day after day, same place as always, same position, on his knees in an attitude of humility. A small wooden bowl was before him, and occasionally, a passerby would drop in a coin or two with a small clink. I never had time for him; he was just another beggar on the streets of London. And one couldn’t give money to all beggars.

Will You Save Me?

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Tue, 02/14/2017 - 01:55

here i am, Lord, hear my plea
broken deeply, never free
lacking strength to even come
hither to Thy throne above.

wretched sinner, such as i
will you take me, here, tonight
save a sinner, mend a soul
will You make my shattered whole?

splintering my hardened heart
splitting shackles clean apart
cleansing my will to be Thine,
will You rest a wearied mind?

will You turn this life around
hell to heaven, skies from ground
turning night to brightest Day
will you lift me, now, today?

Sky Castles and other dream-ideals

Submitted by little woman on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 22:11

I: Sky Castles
building castles in the sky
dreams and wishes piled high
bending swaying with the breeze
lofty clouds now changing shape
plans I know
will never come true
yet can't help embellishing
readying
in case they do
plans of travel
plans of love
plans of rules to be broken
plans of me
new and improved
I know exactly
what I need to do next
to make these castles stone
as surely as
I know I'll never do it

In Ink

Submitted by Hannah W. on Thu, 05/17/2012 - 17:01

I set myself down in words, in ink.
Blue lines running like rivers on the page
and my name
scrawled at the end with a hesitant hand.

My penmanship inelegant, sentences ineloquent
saying everything and nothing that I wanted to say.

But writing things down is like leaving fingerprints
or getting paper cuts, or making reckless decisions.

It’s like trying to draw a bird in a minute:
unable to capture its lightness and movement.

Words

Submitted by Rachel W on Fri, 05/20/2011 - 06:19

Words can heal, words can hurt.

Words can give, words can steal.

Words give hope to the lost.

Words explain the cost.

They fly from lips on fire from Christ.

But also keep the lost unitised.

To continue to live a life of sin.

Those kind of words, they just wont win.

Words can show some one you care.

Voices in Choir

Submitted by Sarah on Sat, 01/29/2011 - 00:13

"Me! Me! Listen to me!"

The voice in my head fairly screams.

"No, I, I! The better idea is mine."

It's the start of a cacophany

.

In comparison to the first

relatively quiet voice

the next onslaught

is devastating

My creativity, a kind of curse

to what sort of choice,

am I to be brought?

(though to listen in is fascinating!)

This idea, that idea,

what idea is the best?

This plan, that plot,

can you just give me a rest?

The Silent Watch

Dedicated to Old Fashioned Girl. Merry Christmas :)

The room stirred and Ally stared at the back of the hall along with everyone else. One of her friends whispered in her ear but she didn’t know what was said. There he was, at the door. Slowly, he looked around at the gathering. It was as if he met the eye of every single person. Ally certainly felt like she had connected, if only for the barest second, with him and that he had seen every part of her self.

Surge, Beat

Crash,
