The Lunatic

Who said a madman is a man who has lost everything
But his reason? Chesterton, I think, writing
In one of his theological works; anyway this portrays
My last patient so deftly that I can only say
It was a most prophetic vision. This man, I swear,
Was a loquacious creature, making it a habit to declare
The most inane ramblings. “Does this,” he once asked,
“Really look like a lamp-post?” And I thought it my task
To persuade him it really was; nothing would deter him.
“It appears, in my mind, like tangerines stacked ad infinitum,

26. The Tragedy of the Marble Cat
This marble cat sits
On a marble windowsill,
Watching everlasting asphalt streets.
On marble haunches,
Teases metal cars
With its sleek, cold grace.
Lifelike marble tail,
Slender as hairless stone can be,
Almost seems to swing,
With a touch of imagination.
Bright emerald eyes wink,
Almost intelligently.
But not for all the imagination in the world
Will this marble cat ever
Catch a single real mouse.

I dreamed a dream of sunshine

We Met Under the Grove

Submitted by Anna on Wed, 09/22/2010 - 20:24

(my apricotpie farewell)
We met under the grove
Bringing shade, bringing bright,
Laughing sadly or studying weakness with might.
Some bring their blindness, others their sight,
But the grove where we met never changed.
We cried the same joys and we held the same loss,
We raised different voice, yet obeyed the same God.
Our hates and our loves explored paths on one chase,
And the trees overhead lent us beautiful grace.
We helped others fall up in the grove.
We met under the grove in drabs of such hue

Lily white, her crown of snow
In curving light her petals grow.
Bird in flight sees her below,
Moved by sight of such a glow.

22. Spring
First won't look like much
but it smells and sounds and feels
like coming alive

23.
“I hope you dance,” whispered Moira
To Neal at their very first ball
“Sweet lass!” he said as he kissed her
They were wed before the next fall.
“I hope you dance,” Cora’s brother
Teased as he saw her big chance
But the man who made eyes at his sister

The Wonderful Wolfgang Wilde

Wolfgang Wilde was a man of his ease
He had no direction but that of the breeze
He walked down the road at a leisurely pace
His destination was the nearest place

The Wonderful Wolfgang Wilde.

On the side of a hill he came to a town
A grand sort of place though ‘twas up side down
The houses were tall, the people were short
And monkeys ran the governor’s court

The Wonderful Wolfgang Wilde!

16.
Two people dance and sway in the night
The boy tells the girl to look in his eyes
In his arms, she trembles and tries not cry
She knows it’s the last night they’ll have in this life
-so close-
The girl watches this dream, wonders who they are
Then she sees herself, and he’s holding her heart
She never knew how much pain it would bring them to part
Not ‘til the moment under the stars…

Mercy so relentless it died a criminal’s death
Love so jealous it overcame every rival for her heart

Today, Yesterday, and the far off Tomorrow

Submitted by The Brit on Thu, 09/03/2009 - 06:06

Today's a day to be remembered.
And Yesterday: forgot.
Tomorrow we have yet to see,
And see how fares our lot.

Today's the day that we march on,
Though Yesterday we warred,
Tomorrow we will sleep away,
Our pillow as our sword.

Today has never met Tomorrow,
Yet thinks of Yesterday,
Tomorrow knows the future well,
Yet knows what it won't say.

Today will live to see Tonight,
And Yesterday watch on,
As Tomorrow starts a bright new day,
Since Yesterday is gone.

1.
You make a valentine of galaxies
The universe is your love letter
Though we’re stained and torn
You laid down your life for us, so insignificant
So we could be your bride—
Whiter than snow.

2.
And I’ll ride away on my Heart Air Balloon
Fly off to the sky
Away from the HeartbreakLands where now I dwell
And I will be the Queen of Hearts.
But I will miss the seashells,
And there are things I cannot forget…
