Three Enemies

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Fri, 05/31/2019 - 11:55

Sin, suffering, and sorrow
My three deepest fears
The three enemies of my faith
Tearing and being torn
Swearing and being mourned
Death on the horizon, I
See the third fear, and
Am surmising
That soon I must
Say goodbye
And my world will go on
Where his ended
My life will move on
Where his didn’t
And then from that pain I turn
I see another man
Who’s life was burned
By the first enemy
By his own choice he
Destroyed a name
He squandered his voice
To play a game

Until We Meet...for the First Time

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Tue, 01/31/2017 - 23:20

I never knew you, never will
Till I walk on gilded shores
But I'm descended from your line
Your oldest granddaughter.

Your life was broken, marred by sin
Rev’ling, adultery, drugs
You yielded daily to the pull
Of Satan’s darkest night.

Was there a sin left uncommitted?
In your life on earth
Is left unanswered; your brokenness
Was evident to all.

Yes, I’ll never know you here on earth
But in bright eternity
Face to face I’ll see you there
Where sin can reign no more.

The Hunter

My lips are riddled with cracks and hardened patches of skin, like flakes of mud in a dry riverbed, splintering with sparks of pain as I press them together, trying not to think about the raging thirst thickening my tongue and making it nearly impossible to swallow. My hunger, once torturous, has faded to insignificance compared to my thirst. The merciless sun has covered my body with blisters and dead, peeling skin, irritated by every movement. With every step my knees threaten to collapse, occasionally making good their threats at the worst possible moments.

Let Go and Let Me Love You

Submitted by Mary on Wed, 06/25/2014 - 17:31

I’ll never forget the moment
I first told you that I love you,
thinking you’d be happy—
as happy as you’ve made me.
I can’t forget the fear inside,
watching your face fall instead.
Now you’re pushing me away,
telling me I shouldn’t stay,
telling me I shouldn’t love you,
that I’m better off without you,
certain I’d no longer love you,
If I only knew...

I have been extremely busy lately so that even though I had written these in October, and ment to post them then, I have been kept from doing so. I also would like to sorry for taking so long to read through things and publish them lately. It was for the same reason that kept me from posting. Anyways, I have caught up now.

These two stories I wrote for a writting assignment. The first is a rewritten story, and the second is totally original(well, I guess not since it uses the same world as the first) I hope that you enjoy, and any corrections are welcomed with open arms!

love me and I will trust you

with every drop, even the sweat
over every skin cell, even the freckles
on every finger, even the pointers

with every word, even the warnings
for every look, even the glares

with every gift, even the wasted
inside every box, even the empty
hid in every room, even the locked

with every tear, even the rips
on every page, even the dog-eared

with every wound, even the open

Desire, don't you drag me down

Into the dark abyss.
Let go your hold upon my heart--
Love is not meant to die like this.
Temptation, tempt my tongue no more
Let this be our last kiss.
Forget me next time you're in town--
Love cannot die like this.
Demons, depart from my dreams.
God, please take away the twist
That perverts my heart, my thoughts and soul.
Love will not die like this.

I Surrender

Submitted by Dan on Mon, 03/19/2012 - 05:03

I surrender, to obey,

Everything He says, day by day.

I surrender, all my sin,

So I will win, to please Him.

I will try to no longer fall,

I answer His call,

I surrender all.

Its pretty  pink and royal blue,

it will relese a scent just for you,

it draws you close,

and make you happy,

then snap your gone,

there is no air there is no light,

then your stuck and full of fright,

then god reaches down and takes you out,

he forgave you and there is no doubt,

you look back and think of the fall,

so the next time you meet sin walk away and stand tall,
