Waiting On Moon

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sat, 03/09/2019 - 14:51

I gazed upon the sky above
Lost in thoughts of life and love
I missed the moon in darkness’ depths
But saw a shooting star instead

I sat, waiting for moon’s face to appear
But alas no friend to me was near
And yet the stars still smiled down
Like company, the silence crowned

And darkness covered me like a mask
Covering me like the smile I daily taxed
While still no moon made the quiet speak
My eyes overflowed and flooded my cheeks

I'll Be There (For You)

Submitted by SURPRISINGPERSON on Sat, 08/04/2018 - 04:59

I stand here before,
I'm waiting to see.
T call out your name.
Will you hear me?

I'll give you my heart,
And all that I am.
I will be yours,
Please believe me.

So ask and you'll find
The key to my heart.
Unlock the door
And receive me.

If you say that you
Don't need me,
Just take a look around;
And remember, I'll be there
When others let you down.

I Need You

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Thu, 04/19/2018 - 00:08

You know that time is wasting away
The clock is ticking to start a brand new day
And I'm just waiting here for you say
I need you

I want for you to hold me close
I'm fading here as everyone knows
But the truth remains I'm still here alone
I need you

Can't you see
I'm waiting here for you to find me
Can't you see
I need you

I wonder if you ever passed me by
I wonder if I'll ever get to call you mine
Sometimes it seems like love is just a lie
I need you

My True Love-To-Come

Submitted by SURPRISINGPERSON on Tue, 11/14/2017 - 21:43

I have seen you
Upon the hillsides,
Hair blowing in the wind.
Seen your shadow
Pass by my window,
Colored silver-grey.

I have seen you
Brushing the winter
Snow marks all away,
Crystal breezes
Bringing the springtime,
Never a day the same.

The love of my heart
Will belong to you always.
The love of my life,
You always shall be.
I lean on my Father
To help me to wait for you,

Till the day
When you'll be
Here with me.

Be Still

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 08/21/2016 - 21:01

Animosity
My perplexity
A redundant thought
Some small worries fraught
Heart-torn and bleary
Blinded and weary
Sentences framed
Tongue is now aimed
Give me discretion
Show me my lesson
Diminish my fears
Wipe away my tears
I can't understand
But I won't demand
Please Lord, give me sight
Let me be alright
I want to trust You
Your promises true
Delight in Your will
Heart of mine, be still
Look up for the Light
His love gives us sight

Calm

Submitted by little woman on Mon, 11/14/2011 - 00:38

(A/N - My interpretation of the stillness right before the clouds drop everything they're carrying.)

The calm before the storm:

quietly frightening,

innately peaceful;

unsung power emanating throught the air.

The buzz of life stops,

the hum of labor ceases,

all is still -

waiting.

Waiting

Submitted by Hannah W. on Tue, 12/09/2008 - 20:57

The clock on the wall
it's mocking me, I think
and the seconds are marked
by the drips of the sink

The ticking, dripping,
scratching, scrape
I sit at the window,
I watch and I wait

The phone's almost sleeping
it sits there, won't ring
though I sigh in frustration
it's rather annoying

I can't sit and read
can't stay still long enough
and yet at the same time
I don't want to get up

Wait Just a Minute

Submitted by Hannah W. on Sat, 10/11/2008 - 14:23

Can you wait just a minute,
and forget right this second,
think back to the past,
and lay down our weapons?

Forget what we've heard
from different sources,
and break down our walls
and knock down the fortress

Put aside the battles
we've lost and won,
work together,
all for one

Forget what's just happened,
start over again,
now is a time
when we can be friends.

Can you wait just a minute,
and let it all slip away?
Can you wait just a minute,
and see the new day?

Rocking Chair

Submitted by Hannah W. on Thu, 09/11/2008 - 02:28

Passing the time in a rocking chair,
back and forth and back again,
a ray of sunlight through the window
hanging just above my head

The chair keeps time,
a song keeps rhyme,
till Dad comes home again.
