Who Am I?

Submitted by Eagle on Thu, 12/31/2015 - 21:25

I am someone who is different.
I am someone who loves art,
Loves music, loves singing.
I am someone who knows why I am here.
I understand how I got here.
And i acknowledge the reasons i have life.
I know that someone special loves me;
More than anyone could.
I am someone who likes baseball.
Running around, being someone who has life,
Breaking the news with victory,
That something awesome has happened.
Knowing that wherever i am in life,
All i have to do is look up at my creator and know that i am loved.

The Failed Child

Submitted by Bridget on Thu, 12/31/2015 - 16:25

In the beginning of my life
There was a dimpled little girl
And she knew for sure
That she would conquer the world

She would be magnificent, brave
A poet, a hero, a queen, a king!
Spectacular, lovely, madly intelligent
A personality with 9-volt zing

I hate to end the good part here
But this girl did the growing up thing
And though she said she would always stay young
She lost her passion and dreams

Dew Stains

You are a
new haven failure who
stares at the sky
blinded by light
who recedes into the darkness
come supple night
let the inky black arms
pull you in
very tight
letting go
not an option
until the sun crests
in fight
and you writhe away
and are left out of breath
keel on the grass
for a five-second rest
and when you stand up
all the dew stains
dry fast

This Shall Be

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Mon, 12/28/2015 - 03:40

For a humble heart I ask
That I may complete this task
Purge my soul, take pride away
That I with joy might face each day
Give grace for every word I speak
And help me always to be meek
Help me show Your love to all
Lend me strength so I won't fall
Help me speak what's right and true
This shall be my prayer to You

The Road to Joy - Chapter III

Previous Chapter

When I woke up, I felt sick. I sat up in bed, realizing I was already late for work. Then suddenly the memories of the previous night flooded into my recollection and I fell back onto my bed.

My sister was dead, and I would never get to see her get married and become a mother, which was always her wish. But it would never be. My anger again was aroused, and I spoke aloud to God, saying, "Why, Lord, have you taken my sister's life? Do you not have any consideration for human kind?"

Death Penalty: Vengeance or Punishment?

Submitted by Lucy Anne on Sat, 12/19/2015 - 22:18

In the past month, terrorists have shot teenagers jumping to the beat of a rock concert in Paris, killed customers in a bar, slaughtered families in Syria...the list goes on. As more violence occurs each day, the world’s immediate reaction is to capture the murderer and punish him. That very act, however, is shrouded in controversy. Is it moral to punish people with death? Does the methods of execution matter? From the time of the Israelites, executions have come in many forms--the Roman crucifixions, the guillotines, Nazi gas chambers, and today’s lethal injections or electric chairs.

The Silly Season

* Pre note: I actually started writing this at the start of December...maybe even before...

Hey Guys!

Christmas is coming up fast, isn’t it? Over here, it’s known as the ‘silly season’. Hence the title.

For most of you, the anticipation of the season includes hot drinks, cosy jumpers (sweaters, whatever) and snuggling up with a good book. For me, it means turning on the air conditioner, making cold snacks and figuring out how to not sweat my clothes in public (or at home, for that matter).
