National Anthem of Liberari Ya

Submitted by Libby on Mon, 10/23/2017 - 20:46

Rise up, oh land of liberty,
Against the foe and for the friend;
Under the queen’s just ruling,
Stay true to her until the end.

Through dangers, many, we shall tread,
Though some more weary than the rest,
But we shall brave them through that time
With hearts of courage and of zest.

Rise up, oh land of liberty,
To needy ones a hand we’ll lend,
And thus we will forevermore,
Be true to her unto the end.

The Love Of My Life

Submitted by Christin on Sun, 10/22/2017 - 17:34

Hello, My name is Leopold. Last year I met the love of my life. Well, “met” is an exaggeration. Last year I saw the love of my life. What a beautiful specimen she was. She had blue sparkling eyes, full red lips and short, silky blonde hair that shimmered in the sun. The fact that I knew at once that she was to be mine did not subtract from the amount of time I stood staring. Actually, staring sounds bad. Instead, lets call it gazing. I stood outside gazing at her, as time itself slowed down. The icy chill of the air did not make it through as I stood and watched her.

By God are Known

To rid the weight of guilt within
And lift the burden of my sin
His love to us He does exert
Grace to us beyond desserts
In vict'ry giveth us His might
Imputes to us His righteous light
His favor rests on me instead
No wrath is poured upon my head
Adopted by His loving thought
By His blood our souls were bought
As by His grace we now are grown
Because of Him by God are known

How Do You Feel

Submitted by Madalyn Clare on Sat, 10/21/2017 - 18:56

I want to know you
So I deflect to you,
But hopefully, you’re not
Uncomfortable.

I want to make
A new friend,
And so I try,
But I don’t want
To be a burden.

Outside, it’s
You, you, you,
But I can’t tell
How much I think
Me, me, me.

Why not just take a leap?

How do you feel?
How are you?
Let’s turn the
Paradigm
And make this
New
Friendship
True.

A good turn
Earns
Earnest kindness,
I’ve figured.
So let’s do this.

Riddle

Submitted by Libby on Sat, 10/21/2017 - 16:41

Where hurt abounds, it raises up,
It lifts the hearts of men on earth
Bringing purpose, crushes gloom
Arresting spirit at its birth

It promises a brand-new start
A melancholy heart it cheers;
When waiting in anxiety
It gets the better of our fears.

Where life exists it will be found,
If even just a hint of it;
And where ‘tis found, it cautions us
The slightest fear not to permit.

The Intruder In The Computer

Submitted by Christin on Sat, 10/21/2017 - 02:39

I sat upon my owner's lap and stared intently at the screen of her computer. She was watching some kind of video that I found most interesting. After a while, my master turned off the video and shooed me off her lap so that she could stand. I explained to her my disproval, and several fine reasons why we should keep watching the video, but she didn't understand, as usual. Humans are such morons. I chased her into the kitchen, and strutted around her purring, allowing my long whiskers to brush up against her bare legs. She giggled, but still would not regain her seat at the computer.

Rinsenar Pete; The Light Trilogy (chapter 5)

Submitted by Aalen Fideli on Fri, 10/20/2017 - 05:56

Pete and J-Boy pulled the boat further onto the island.
Once they had tied the boat safely to the tree, the boys walked around the island to get a bearing on where exactly they had landed.
It was an island, much the same as any of the other islands, with the express difference of being the only one they were currently standing on.
Measuring roughly thirty meters across in one direction and fifty in the other, it seemed to be on the smaller side. At least insofar as the boys could tell, not having much experience with these floating islands.

Reset

Submitted by Gina I. on Fri, 10/20/2017 - 01:14

PRESS TO RESET THE WORLD. The button was rather smaller than I expected, simply marked with a paper sign. Would it be worth it? I wasn't sure. I didn't expect to be faced with a dilemma like this on my way to work at 6 am on a Thursday morning. Especially on a Thursday. Thursdays were null days- they just happened. Nothing happened on a Thursday. Ever. I was getting side-tracked. Looking around at the people rushing to and fro in this coty, I wondered if I was the only one who actually saw the button.

Where the Red Fern Grows

Submitted by Libby on Thu, 10/19/2017 - 00:21

The day my dogs I chose
I was all in a riot
An empty stomach was my diet
Our home was full of disquiet
My dogs were sweet, dare I deny it?

They are still now and quiet
Where the red fern grows.

My grief on me bestows
A sense of failed endeavor
To save my dogs, so clever
I know I’d do whatever—
Now I will see them never!

Will they lie there forever,
Where the red fern grows?

The PencilBot 4000

Submitted by Christin on Wed, 10/18/2017 - 03:10

My pencil flew across the paper. It bounced and danced as it depicted details of a fantasy world.
My wrist ached, but though it tried, it couldn't convince me to stop writing. I was in the zone.
"Just a few lines more…" I told myself, but then a few lines later I whispered,
"Just a few lines more…" and I knew I wasn't going anywhere.
