I want to know you
So I deflect to you,
But hopefully, you’re not
Uncomfortable.
I want to make
A new friend,
And so I try,
But I don’t want
To be a burden.
Outside, it’s
You, you, you,
But I can’t tell
How much I think
Me, me, me.
Why not just take a leap?
How do you feel?
How are you?
Let’s turn the
Paradigm
And make this
New
Friendship
True.
A good turn
Earns
Earnest kindness,
I’ve figured.
So let’s do this.
A good word
Earns
Earnest smiles,
I’ve found.
You have a beautiful one.
Joking like
Old friends
Fifteen minutes
In,
I can’t tell you
How much I
Doubted this.
You’re actually
Amazing.
We aren’t different at all.
You’re nervous too.
You’re scared too.
Let’s find
A different
Paradigm
And make this
New
Friendship
True.
A follow-up to my other poem, How Do I Feel. Honesty is a good premise for a poem. This is my last free-verse for a while, I promise ;)

I like this, Maddie. Outside,
I like this, Maddie.
Outside, it’s
You, you, you,
But I can’t tell
How much I think
Me, me, me.
So relatable and true. This is absolutely lovely, dear. I was hoping you'd post today. :) well done.
