Neighbor
Where?
Where am I?
“At my inn. You were unconscious
                                                                                                               When he brought you here.”

homecoming

Submitted by Nikki on Sat, 01/30/2010 - 04:32

too long have I strayed
like a ship at sea,
cast gently upon shore
after shore
yet never finding the solace,
the peace that I yearn for.
at last my trembling fingers take
ink, and spirit
and let them run unbridled
weaving words into a haven,
walls with paned-glass windows
to let the light inside.
the heavens sigh, relieved
they will not be troubled tonight
by my earnest conversation
with the unknown.
I have captured it and pinned it
upon this paper
with an alchemist’s delight -

Love could have been mine

Submitted by Bridget on Sat, 01/30/2010 - 01:02

I never let love touch my heart
I’ve never wished upon a star
Because I found when all was done
That disappointment was too hard.

I’ve never danced in quiet rain
What would result was all too plain
I had found, when all was done
Other’s scorn held too much pain.

I never dared opinion assert
Always my mind was on alert
Because I knew when all was done
I would not end up unhurt.

River

Submitted by Julie on Fri, 01/29/2010 - 14:33

Step into the river.

Step into eternity.

Water licks about my shoulders, tugging at my hair so it swirls about me like water weeds. I take one step, then another. Lopsided pebbles wiggle under my bare feet, threatening to push my feet away. Fish peer out from underneath the overhanging banks. One brushes against my legs, leaving only ripples to show its passage.

Rush and Dream Again

Submitted by Bernadette on Thu, 01/28/2010 - 18:16

Rushing and scurrying feet

No time to dream again.

Soft rushes of breezing wind

Whispering: dream again.

Hearts pounding and rushing:

Won’t you dream again?

Shining and rushing rivers

Their calling: dream again.

Unattended rushing thoughts

Stop and dream again.

Waves rush on sandy shores

 Heal and dream again.

Timeless words breaking hearts

Will you halt to dream again?
