Caleb Olastar could hear his own breath. It was so quiet in the underground basement that served as headquarters for the Resistance. The Council all stared at him, bewildered that this little red haired hacker wanted to execute such an audacious idea. After about five minutes of pondering on the Council's part, the Headmaster spoke,

"Well then, would you think the benefits outwheigh the costs if this plan were put into action?"

The Wise Fear Water

Submitted by Hannah W. on Thu, 03/29/2012 - 21:28

All wise men fear water.
They fear drowning, in too deep
they fear rain dripping steadily onto the street
they always carry umbrellas and
they never look at seas.

When I was young, I saw a river
Due to drought, it was growing thinner.
Stones were like gems inside it and
the fish were just like silver.

The water was streaming onward fast
not a hard-smooth mirror or a sheet of glass.
I reached my hand into it and
I felt it rushing past.

she was a girl in a forest with no trees
he was a boy of fire and blind belief.
it was Chicago, planes flew overhead
now she's in bed
fast asleep.

and who will wake her from her dreams?
who dares disturb her restless peace?
everything he knows blazing wild to ash
flames won't catch
eyes won't meet.

in constant noise, she does not speak
through clouds of smoke, he cannot see.
she takes her bitter pills to swallow
forget those hollow
memories.

Chapter Three

Since I was now awake again, I might as well hurry and help with supper.

“Mom,” I said rushing headlong into the kitchen, where I was greeted with my whole family sitting at the table eating.  "Why, I thought it wasn’t even suppertime yet!” I said confusedly, "I was out in the swing reading my book when I fell asleep. I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you prepare supper and that I lost track of the time.”
