No Other Song

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Fri, 05/31/2019 - 11:47

You
Are my music
Without you my world is
Cold and
Gray
My thoughts are
Stale
A flatline of
Empty static
But with you I
Sing for joy
With
You, I
Bask
In the beauty that is time
I don’t mind the mundane
Because with
You
The mundane is more than
Bearable
It is rendered
Beautiful, by
Your sunshiny melody
Your thoughtful
Lyrics
And the rhythm
Of your
Heart
With you, I
Need
No other
Song

Heartfelt Song

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Wed, 03/06/2019 - 21:19

In the morning I hear a song
It plays so faintly, in my head
It starts while I am yet dreaming
Stretched upon my morning bed
But as the day goes by it grows
And I begin to hum along
For though it is a catchy tune
My heart remembers not the song
But quickly in the afternoon
I pick out the words, here and there
Til dinner comes with fork and spoon
And I am singing, unaware
So by the time I’m off for bed
I’m belting out a wordy song
An anthem of blessed thankfulness
As heartfelt as the day is long

Expression

The music sings
Tugs at my heart
If I don't dare to join
It'll tear me apart
To express oneself is freedom
Though it may come of pain
And the shelter that music provides
Is like an umbrella in the rain

My Life Through Music Part Six: Demons

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Tue, 01/22/2019 - 17:59

When the days are cold
And the cards all fold
And the saints we see
Are all made of gold
The year that I turned 19 was the darkest year of my life. Not the hardest; the darkest. I was still reeling from my breakup the previous year, and I was stuck in a deep slough of murky depression. The fog was so thick that on most days I felt like I was suffocating. Drowning, even.
When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood’s run stale

I Need You

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Thu, 04/19/2018 - 00:08

You know that time is wasting away
The clock is ticking to start a brand new day
And I'm just waiting here for you say
I need you

I want for you to hold me close
I'm fading here as everyone knows
But the truth remains I'm still here alone
I need you

Can't you see
I'm waiting here for you to find me
Can't you see
I need you

I wonder if you ever passed me by
I wonder if I'll ever get to call you mine
Sometimes it seems like love is just a lie
I need you

Finally I Can Dance

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Tue, 04/10/2018 - 21:04

I was blessed with two left feet
Trip over my own toes
But when I hear that bass-line beat
I feel like I should dance

Typically not a graceful girl
I have been known to fall
Sometimes get dizzy when I twirl
Yet still I want to dance

I feel the music in my bones
Calling across the floor
I rise and fall and sway with soul
While now I try to dance

On my toes, suspended I move
I reach, and leap with grace
Believing I have found my groove
Finally I can dance

As the glowing sun set behind Knight Manor. Isabella Knight a beautiful 21-year-old girl was finishing the last few touches on a surprise birthday party for her mom and uncle her mom’s twin brother. Bella scribbled on a piece of paper the last couple of items she needed to grab from the store.
‘Cake, candles, and balloons.’ thought Bella as she ran out the door to her black truck and rushed to the store. As Bella picked up the last few things on her list her phone rang.
“Hello” “Bella honey, it’s dad is everything ready for your mom and uncle?”

My Life Through Music Part Two: You Are My King

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Thu, 01/11/2018 - 05:33

I'm forgiven because You were forsaken
Almost exactly a month after I turned 16 in the April of 2014 I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior and King, and I confessed my understanding that I could add nothing to my own salvation except for the sin I carried in my flesh. For the first time in my life I really thought about what Christ bore on the cross. More than the tempestuous pain and suffering; He bore the wrath of God poured out upon His head in my place. He cried out "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
I'm accepted, You were condemned

Ocean's Call - Chapter 1

Submitted by Jade Hardy on Mon, 12/25/2017 - 04:07

As Raya walked along the beach she looked out to the sea; breathing in the salty air and watching the waves kiss the sand.  She stopped to watch the dolphins swimming in the cove then turned to walk up the path to her house, she did not notice the ship on the horizon.  Finn, Raya’s older brother was playing volleyball with Jay their cousin, the twins Triton and Tyde, and Adrian, Finn's best friend, as she walked up the path Raya looked up when her brother called her.
“Raya, come play with us, we need one more player!” yelled Finn.
