For Our Country

Submitted by Grace J. on Sat, 07/04/2020 - 04:39

Boats slipping cross a river
In the deep dark of night
Cold but determined soldiers
Sailing to a new fight

A country just blooming
Struggling to survive
Would they wither and die
Or succeed and then thrive?

“Why do you do it?”
“For justice and liberty,
To protect our fam’lies,
To form a new country!”

Rows of weary soldiers
Far from home and fam’ly
But to rise or to fall,
To charge and fight, ready

This is America

This is America.

The land of diversity and freedom and change.

Change is good, but we’re seeing too much change. We’re seeing the kind of change that tears us down; eliminating the beautiful and weak in its wake.

The New York Capitol is a beautiful building, but its foundation was built on sand.

No, this is not a post of random musings.

We recently saw New York legalize abortion up to nine months as well as during delivery. People around me are applauding this new law, but I’m sick.

I’m sick and angry. Heartbroken, too.

Our Flag

Submitted by Grace J. on Mon, 07/30/2018 - 01:47

All of our colors,
The red, white, and blue,
They fill me with pride
And prob’ly you too.

Red and white stripes,
Blue has white stars.
Together they make
The best flag—‘cause it’s ours!

I love my country
And what it stands for.
When I sing our anthem
I feel my heart soar.

We’re special, unique,
And one-of-a-kind.
No one’s ever succeeded—
Search and you’ll find

In 1700, our colonists looked
And sadly they found
The king was unjust,
So they made a big sound!

Tiny Child

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 01/31/2016 - 20:58

Tiny child, by your parents torn apart,
I wish I could hold you in my arms; not my heart.
Unloved, unprotected, not held by loving hands;
Your demise is cheered on and upheld in this land.

Unloved, unwanted, torn and abused:
Cast aside for selfish pleasure, broken; confused.
They pursued their own lust and chased after their pleasure,
Not facing their sins but removing their treasure.

Of the Small

Submitted by little woman on Fri, 01/11/2013 - 00:44

This is the land of Freedom and Justice
or is it?
where we swear under God.

Under God we stand
a nation once rose tall
yet if our sins we keep
our nation soon will fall.

Prophets of today
stand up and tell us plain
'a nation who slaughters her children
never more will gain.'

Still we press on forward
"rights" for each and all
yet in the hurry to let each do as he will
we forget the rights of the small.

I can't remember how I found AP. I think the first thing I read was Aisling's "You Know You're a Homeschooler When..." It was shortly after we moved overseas. I followed AP for a little while, but didn't really get involved. Then I stumbled across it again later and decided I wanted to stay for good that time around. I remember days I'd daydream about years from now when our children and grandchildren would be writing on here.

The American War for Independence: Reformation or Revolution?

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sat, 06/20/2009 - 06:02

The American Revolution is a historical event that stirs up patriotism in the hearts of many Americans. They praise the founding fathers, shake their fists at tyrannical England, and cheer at the stories of courage and leadership. However, the American Revolution is a misnomer, because it was not a truly revolution. As defined by Dr. George Grant, revolution is men taking violent action against their government because they want immediate change in or destruction of the old order. (Grant, 2003, no.

The Four Freedoms Of America

Submitted by Alecia on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 04:44

Four freedoms in America,
Freedom of expression,
You do not need to worry,
You may speak without discretion.

Foour freedoms in America,
The freedom of belief,
We may worship as we please,
Without fear or greif.

Four freedoms in America,
Freedom from want,
Working up through life,
Fear not that hunger will haunt.

Four freedoms in America,
Freedom from fear,
None need to worry,
For what they hold dear.

These are,
The four freedoms of America.
