Truth: Word-Switching (Part 2)

Submitted by James on Thu, 04/24/2008 - 04:44
One of my friends who thinks truth is relative believes strongly in global warming. He is sure that if we don’t take drastic measures, the planet will undergo massive climate change; ice caps will melt, sea levels will rise, cities will be wiped out, species will go extinct, etc. I happen to disagree with this position; I think the idea of man-made global warming has been blown out of proportion, and that the measures taken to “protect our planet” are needlessly devastating our economy. My friend thinks that my position on the issue is dangerously irresponsible (hey, it’s mutual).

Chapter one

Well, now I've done it! Me and my big mouth! I really gotta have a talk with my mouth!

My friends,(Alyssa, Amber, and Charity), and I were walking home from school and we were talking about the musical CATS. I had to open my big fat mouth and say, "Wouldn't it be cool if we were cats and we were in London and could live as Jellicles? I wish we were!"

*poof* We were.

Why couldn't I have left it at "Wouldn't it be cool?" I had to say "I wish...."

I'll Still Be Alive

I’ll Be Alive

Do you know how it feels when you say “I don’t need you”
Do you know what it’s like to be unwanted?
Do you know what my heart is or do you only care about the cover?
I see the faces in the nights, their eyes shoot out at me their tears fill the song.
Their laugh makes my heart crumble, it’s almost gone
You’ve taken a piece of my heart, You’ve taken a slice of my life away.
I want to take yours, and want to make you hurt like you hurt me.
But I must be strong and turn the other cheek,

Spring Comes Slowly to an Old Orchard

Submitted by Taylor on Wed, 04/23/2008 - 00:43

though winter had almost gone
and the last remnant of frost
had just fallen from
the leaf
buds.

In the moonlight,
the branches of the old,
country orchard gleamed
like pale limbs, as if waiting
to waltz slowly
through the fields.

A northerly wind
roused the grass
that played beneath
and between
the dancers.

Flower buds,
white as the moonlight,
pink as the dawn,
had just begun to burst,
inviting hosts of bees
to alight on their branches.

I never knew

Submitted by Aisling on Wed, 04/23/2008 - 00:23

I never knew You
until I knew You wanted me
until I knew You were fighting for me
I never knew You were running after me
pushing through the clutter, arms stretched out trying to reach me
I never knew You hadn’t taken a moment’s rest
since that first moment
I catch the noise at last
turn and see You lunging through the crowd
of my other loves
Your hands and feet cut and bleeding
I never realized you were shouting out loud
shouting my name
I hear what others aren’t saying about me

The Other Side

Submitted by Devangi on Tue, 04/22/2008 - 02:49

A part of me in flower bloom,
The other part in a sad gloom.
A rooster cries at the break of dawn
Welcoming the sun to our world galore.
Yet, somewhere else, the birds lie
silent and still, to spend the night.
Cars bustle by in the morning light,
Cities wake up and drown a bird's cries.
Yet, somewhere else, a river flows by,
It's surroundings chirping with activity, humming with life.
A boy wakes up to find his parents no more,
He longs for them but they fade away some more.

A World without God

Submitted by Cabret on Mon, 04/21/2008 - 20:51

One without God is like a well without water,
Dry as a desert with little hope of rain.

A person without a redeemer is as empty as a sky without stars,
enveloping the night with darkness.

Those who have no faith, have no hope of life,
Full of days that continue with no end.

Toiling endlessly the world does not realize,
that without faith,
life is as empty as a year with no seasons.

Realizing now the importance of faith,
no riches can compare to those that were offered.

"With His Shield or On It" Chapter Six: Winding Paths

Marching up to his post with a heavy heart, knowing that Golwitch’s place would be taken, Menegal saw that a new soldier was already there. The soldier was taller than he and looked older. He had blonde hair and fair skin with a stern face. His eyes were a deep blue that seemed to reflect the mountains before him. Taking his place beside him, the leader of the company, Ranifa, walked up to them.
