THEY put me up on the big Rock next to the driveway. "Now judge," they said, "who is the handsomest, and who does the best tricks." I was in great consternation and fidgeted as they came down on their skateboards; it was only once in a while that the boys raised me up like this and made me their admiring woman; and this was a delicate task, sure to hurt someone's feelings. But as they stood to be judged, I was a diplomatic little queen, and slyly flattered them equally.

The starry image of the Lady gazed emotionlessly down on the flickering lights of a small encampment. Several strides away from the fires stood an emancipated childlike figure whose eyes were wells of an ancient sorrow. The winds whipped her gray robe, tearing at the ragged scarf covering her face and ringing the copper bells of the staff held in her left hand.
The sun was setting, making purple and pink streaks across the big sky. The rolling hills were mere silhouettes against the darkening sky. And across the way, there was a small valley that was beginning to be swallowed up by the dusk. In that small valley, there lived a herd of goats. And with no goatherd, they did as they pleased. Now, in that particular herd of goats, there lived an old nanny goat and her goat kid named Bobby.
Once upon a time, when men were still young on the earth, the Fairies were dominant.
Fairies were ruled by Lords, and occasionally a Lady or two. But Fairy Lordship did not pass from father to son, as with lordship of Men. Their system was far safer in nature, not to mention more mysterious.

“Nicole Ella Kiara Brielle, you come out of there!” Nicole got off her bed and looked at the mess around her. Three days she had sat in her room and it was starting to show it. Every surface had stuff on it, from books to some candy wrappers. She was, to be frank, pouting. She hadn’t told her father about Jonathan, and when he found out from the Queen, he had gotten so angry at her lack of interest in the rich princes of surrounding countries that he had forbidden her to see the boy again. This happened a week after the princess had been helped by Jonathan.
Once upon a time there was a lovely princess. She was fair and tall with a lovely singing voice. She had green eyes. Now please don't ask me why these eyes were so important. They just were. Just remember that the princess had lovely green eyes.
Anyway, lovely as she was, the princess got everything and anything she ever wanted. She had the finest sports equipment. She had her own dance studio. She had eleven ponies and fourteen horses, though she hated riding them. She was spoiled. Yet one day, she came across something that she could not have.
