Pen Touches Paper

Submitted by Tahlia Grant on Sun, 04/04/2010 - 23:15

Pen touches paper

And from it words flow

Describing what they can

Explaining what they know

Words, thoughts and feelings

Nature's wondrous magnifique

Histories and fantasies

From the proud to the meek

Anyone can benefit from a simple, superb

Humble, unnoticed mark when

Pen touches paper

Arkn~ Canto I: Ending

Submitted by Julie on Sun, 04/04/2010 - 20:46

How can you have an ending

before the beginning?

I am just taking

a slice of pepperoni pizza

out of the microwave

when Arkn appears

“Ready for adventure?”

he asks.

I set the pizza down

“Will it still be

warm when I get back?”

I tease.

“I haven’t spent

all this time

teaching you

so you could eat

cold pizza,”

he replies in kind.

We step through

the invisible wall

into the memory room

made of the past

I wonder...

- will anyone read this?

- why did God make the sky blue?

- why do we have hair on the top of our heads?

- why is no one talking to me?

- why did someone pop up right when I said that?

- why do I write these random things?

- can anyone make any sense of them?

- how is that I have such good friends?

- why am I afraid to ask more people to "be my friend"?

- why is "Si" "yes" in Spanish? "Yes" has three letters not two.

Quest for the Treasure, Chapter 1

"Nadezda! Nadezda Deirdre Andriette Galrock! Come here please!" Mrs. Galrock called into the backyard. "And hurry!"

"I'm coming," called back the voice of her daughter, Nadezda.

Mrs. Galrock waited patiently as she saw her daughter appear out of the backyard." You need to clean your room for our guests tonight."

"Yes, Mom." Nadezda went inside and hurried upstairs to do her mother's bidding.

Lift Up My Fear

Submitted by Mairead on Wed, 03/31/2010 - 03:14

my heart is heavy
my soul is worn
my tears still flowing
my arms sore

my head is drooped
my legs are weak
quantity wins
I can hardly speak

I can't carry this load
I'm not seeing the signs
I can't walk this road
the do or don'ts, yes or no's, no bright lines

my cry is for an answer
my tears for a touch
my sighing for a Savior
my cowering for Your love

these feelings inside
too strong to ignore
are fighting to pull me around
I feel uninformed
