Sky Castles and other dream-ideals

Submitted by little woman on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 22:11

I: Sky Castles
building castles in the sky
dreams and wishes piled high
bending swaying with the breeze
lofty clouds now changing shape
plans I know
will never come true
yet can't help embellishing
readying
in case they do
plans of travel
plans of love
plans of rules to be broken
plans of me
new and improved
I know exactly
what I need to do next
to make these castles stone
as surely as
I know I'll never do it

Free Me

Submitted by Lucy Anne on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 22:05

This story, which has been called "Battle to the Death", but is now tentatively called "Free Me" has been on my mind for about a year, so this is just a little exercise. To make it short, this is almost THE story.

I am not completely satisfied on how it came out, but at this point, there's nothing I can do. I really wanted to have more little stories of the past weaved in, but I could barely get them in. (I do like how it ended though!)

Keep in mind that this is NOT the story, and not how the story will be written. This is just a small portion of the main theme.

The Curse of Time: Chapter 2

Raven was jolted out of sleep by her phone which was blasting some strange tune. She silenced it and rolled over, only to hear it buzzing. Continuing to ignore the phone, she had almost dozed back off when it vibrated straight off of her dresser and fell right on her head. Sleepily, Raven flipped her phone open and groaned at the caller.
Aaron laughed at her from the other side of the phone. “Well, someone got up on the wrong side of the bed!”

Thieve: Chapter 18

Before she found herself in wonderland, Alice would have never believed that mushrooms could change her size or that animals could talk. After she found herself in wonderland, Alice was hardly surprised when she was pulled through the looking glass. That was what Jovlin felt like as soon as she stepped out into Brenden’s world- Alice falling down to wonderland. It might have been even more spectacular if she hadn’t actually been falling down. What was it with her and falling?

Abolish the IPCC

Lord Monckton, who is a former science adviser for Maragaret Thatcher, said in 2010: “The IPCC… My policy for the future of that body is that it should be abolished.”
Why is Lord Monckton saying this? We will analyze this through two observations, but first, we need to define the IPCC and what it is. In the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s about page, it says:

A Complete and Thorough Defense of Atheism: Chapter 4

Submitted by Hannah D. on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 16:15

Dear Frederick,
Good to hear you’re beginning to see things the way they are. Now that you've accepted the atheistic view of morality, it is time to move on to another subject: logic.

Logic, as far as we are concerned, is a method of argument. It is a procedure of a chain of reasoning that either deductively (necessarily) or inductively (in all probability) reaches a conclusion. The study of logic defines and categorizes, and constructs and puts to use, all the different logical methods of argument.

A Complete and Thorough Defense of Atheism: Chapter 3

Dear Frederick,

You ask some good questions. To answer them I must come to the foundations of atheism, and particularly its beliefs about morality.

Many atheists – and most agnostic evolutionists – assert that morality comes from animals. Animals help each other, they work together, they learn to cooperate; some, such as elephants, even mourn a relative’s death. Numerous experiments have been done on how far an animal will go to save a friend in distress; results have been promising for those out to look for our own evolution of morality and altruism.

ApricotPie is back

Submitted by James on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 15:14

Dear Homeschooling Friends,
ApricotPie is back. It was down for three weeks as I wrestled with how to fix it. Basically, what happened is that everyone's user pictures became huge and swallowed up every page they were on, rendering everybody's work practically unreadable.
I was unable to fix this picture problem.
So, I had to disable the pictures feature completely.
For now, ApricotPie is back up and running, but all of your pictures are invisible and will be for a while until I can fix the problem.
Thank you all for your patience.
