Two questions in the armory

Submitted by Kathleen on Sun, 06/16/2013 - 07:40

Step into the armory
the wizard told me.
I gazed round the room
‘’ What kind would you like?’’
he asked.
‘’ I think I’d like armor
a lot stronger than
the normal sort
the kind that keeps out the dreaming
the hoping
and most importantly the loving
the kind that would give me
a heart as hard as diamonds
a heart, always, always
whole.
He was still for a moment
then he asked me
another question.

First of October. The men
Without noises forced two
Hands to join. Both bodies
Attached feel that the pact was
Indeed, genuine.

The small girl with funny eyes
Knew the truth. She fell faster
And faster in love with one of the
Souls in the two bodies. She cried
Into the night for her sake and his.

She knew the truth.
Her life was terminated
A mere 817 days later.
Such a pivotal date. Pity
The humans didn't notice.

Journey

Submitted by Caitria Karis on Fri, 06/14/2013 - 22:31

I pick up my pencil and stare at the blank page of notebook paper. There is so much to write, but I cannot find the words. A deep blue sky hovers over me, warm breezes tickle my skin, and I glance around from my perch in the old oak tree. For a moment I let the moment just suck me in, pull me apart, and fill me with wonder. Then I turn my notebook over and flip through the pages scrawled with smudged lead. One page is illegible, stained with tears. Another is half torn where I ripped out the writing I could not bear to erase or keep. This is my journey.

Back to the Darkness

The doomsday false prophets have
Gotten to my head and
Are hacking away with puddings and bread
They whisper secrets and tell me lies
Fill me up on final goodbyes

It's funny how life gets you
Comfortable, with a lover and a nice
Home, maybe even a dog or a kid or two
But, as is life's course, takes it away in
One foul swoop

The Truth is Not Always What We Want to Hear

i. We Are Alive
The sky is an overcast sheet of ice
Pouring forth tears of joy
And you take my hand and we dance
Weaving in and out of the crooked paths
Made by raindrops

We danced and feeling the water on
Our skin, so pale from the lack of light
Letting us know that someday there will
Be a sun to shine on us, and
That we are alive, we are alive

A Ballad of Green Marbles

i. On the Love Itself
You're ever so charming, my dear
From the way you smile to the way you tap
Your fingers on the nearest hard surface
When only I can tell you're plotting

It's funny, though
You have acquired, over three years, more
Enemies than I could ever dream of having
But I should know by know you're a living enigma

And yet, through the days
And the nights that we've spent,
So precious, though few, I have found myself
Slowly, surely falling for you

Evolution and the Bible

This is a topic that I've really been interested in for a while, and have already written a lot on. So here's my summary on the whole creation-evolution debate discussing science and the Bible.

Hitting Deep and Hard - 1 Corinthians 3:1-17

Submitted by Elizabeth Anne on Mon, 06/10/2013 - 12:27

Lord,
Help me to have
A tender heart,
A pliable heart,
A heart ready to learn.

My goal is growth
Not "got'cha".

IMMATURITY (3:1-4)
Infants should grow,
Babies should grow.
If they don't grow -
Something's wrong!

Every child
Is expected to grow.
Thus there is hope
For those found in Christ
To grow.

Still there is trouble.
The problem-
Immaturity.

There's a lack of maturity
And humility
And peace.
