How it Ends

1. On the Edge
I find myself running more and more
Constantly in fear that I won’t run fast enough
I’m having those dreams where I run to a cliff
And I can’t stop before I step off the edge.

2. Variables
Dare you to keep me in your head
Even if you’re too afraid to try
Variables are thrown in left and right
In our lives we may just have to let it go
Nearly close enough, but just a finger’s breadth out of reach

Greek and Roman-Chapter IV: The Colosseum

Submitted by j. Glen pollard on Thu, 06/27/2013 - 04:17
SUNSHINE filled Titus’s room. He awoke and he thought for a moment that he was back in Greece. But he wasn’t. He was still in Rome and lying on a very soft and comfortable bed. He looked across the room and saw that a toga was hanging on a wall. Titus leaped out of his bed. He strode over to it and felt the fabric touch his fingertips. He stared in awe at the ancient yet beautiful design of the toga. And it actually belonged to Father. And then, the images of last night came back to him.

Greek and Roman-Chapter III: Visiting the School

IT took Titus several minutes to catch up with Flora. Whenever he was even half an inch from her, she would look behind and speed with more power from which Titus knew not where it came from.

When he had finally overtaken her, it was when he had turned a corner and she was waiting for him near a small building. It was house. And inside were several boys and an old man. Titus realized that this was a school.

A Developing Passion

Important Note: Before I begin this essay, I would like to take notice on the absence of activity on this website. Since for the past month, nothing really has been getting published, I think that we Monthly Writers should publish our own work because we can. And because a writer MUST write. We can only get better in writing by practicing - so practice we must! The only difference between a writer and a non-writer is that the writer writes NO MATTER WHAT. If you don't know what to write about, write about what is on your mind. You have something on your mind. You do. So WRITE!

Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW), the climate change of the planet due to man and his activities, is a topic that ignites fierce debate and requires aggressive action according to a great many scientists, politicians and civilians alike. With such consequences as increasing wildfires and hurricanes and the spreading of diseases such as malaria, the issue is a major concern, said to bring certain doom to humanity as well as earth's fragile ecosystems. According to one scientific group, the Union of Concerned Scientists, "The Earth is Warming and human activity is the primary cause.”

Millions of Years and the Bible, Part 2b: A Scientific Defense of a Young Earth

In Part 2a of this essay, the very oft-touted 'evidence' of radiometric dating in defense of an old earth was discussed. The second major evidence is distant starlight. As we can see billions of lightyears out into space, secularists argue that the light should take billions of years to get here. There are two major theories that can explain this problem, however. Both are based on the Theory of Relativity.

Millions of Years and the Bible, Part 2a: A Scientific Defense of a Young Earth

I just realized how long this essay is, so I felt that I should split it into two parts. This will discuss radioactive dating, while 2b will discuss distant starlight and various young earth evidences.

It is clear that an honest reader of Scripture will find no hint of evidence towards millions of years. Is the Christian faith, then, based on blind faith? Is it rational to believe in 6,000 years when scientists, more often than not, say 4.5 billion?
