“In a few decades, the relationship between the environment, resources and conflict may seem almost as obvious as the connection we see today between human rights, democracy and peace.”

Step lightly on the earth

Preserve it for the tenth generation to follow in your footsteps.

Will they tread on a path or wade through a waist-deep ditch?

How will your actions effect the world in which we must reside?

Tipping Point - NaNo 2013 (Synopsis, Pitch & Foreword)

Title: Tipping Point Synopsis/Tagline: THEY are an ultra-famous threesome. SHE is a normal girl. THEY are an ultra-famous threesome in need of an opening act for their fourth tour. SHE is a normal girl who fits the bill. Pitch: Ina Galet used to be capital-O obsessed with Tipping Point. They encapsulated her fifteen-year-old life. And better yet, she was just one of the few that knew about them--which meant, when they came to her hometown, she got the chance to meet them. It didn't go well. Two years have passed since then, and Tipping Point has blown up.

November- Here I Am

Submitted by Keri on Sat, 11/02/2013 - 23:48

So here I am. Wow. God, you are incredible. Guys, look at me! Mom, Dad, Is this real? Do you see it too? I'm happy again. I know, I can't believe it either. It's so amazing that I shouldn't just be happy, but so phenomenally, deeply, and purely happy. Have I ever felt so at peace before? You tell me. I don't think it's quite possible.

One Week/I Am Not a Formality/Horses Make the Best BFFs/really more of an essay but they're a series of prose poems so yeah

Monday.
He made things happen for me today
His blue eyes smiled from dawn till dusk
He told me I’d do good things
I believed him and I still do
I’m on cloud nine right now
I’m feeling so much less empty
Not so alone
Things are finally coming together.

Tuesday.
I like my new friends
I’m busy
All the time
With school, with work
They fit into my schedule
Conveniently
Like puzzle pieces

Not Perfect -- Part 2

Submitted by Maddi on Sat, 11/02/2013 - 02:41

-- So, I know this was a really belated chapter. And, I also know I could have worked a lot more on it. And put more description in. BUT I just wanted to post it because I haven't posted anything in a while. :) So enjoy, and critique please! --

Chapter 2

She had brown, silky hair, with little blonde streaks running through it. She often curled it, though I had always said it looked pretty in natural waves. One, silver piercing brightened her left ear, two went through her right.

Santa's Evil Twin

Here comes Hanta Claus,
Here comes Hanta Claus,
Right down Hanta Claus Lane,
Lixen and Glitzen and all his demons
Pullin' on the reins.
Moms are prayin', children cryin'
All is scary and sad.
So hug your parents and say your prayers,
'Cause Hanta Claus comes tonight.

The Black Monarch

Submitted by Elizabeth Anne on Fri, 11/01/2013 - 00:42

They had a name for me, where I came from. They called me Bogoath (Bog-gway-th), or soft wind; but here they just call me the Black Monarch. A monarch is a butterfly, and the new companies were claiming they called me this because I was such a “graceful swordswoman” and I dressed in all black. Of course, they made a serious mistake because they didn’t realize the name was already taken by a bird. In my opinion, the actual definition of a Black Monarch is much more descriptive of me. I do not flutter about pointlessly like a butterfly, nor am I dressed in black to hide who I am.

A Late Night Pixelated Love Story

Switching pages between stanzas
Enjoying all of your funny quips and phrases
Half-hearted list that means the world to me
We're just two kids having fun

I spy a tree just on the other hill
Paper hats and metaphorical automobiles
My heart skips every time there is a pause
Maybe you'll take the time to speak

Clock ticking, another music note drones by
Secretly I think I love you
But I'm fine with staying friends
I cross my fingers, pray you'll stick around
