Everything Went Dark

With one look, one breath, one faltering step
Everything went dark
With one voice, one cry, one moment in time
Everything became nothing
With one word, one touch, one last glance
Everything fell apart

With one prayer, one plea, one desperate hope
We struggle to believe
With one call, one word, one sorrow-filled voice
All hope is broken
With one scream, one moan, one terrorized pain
My heart is rent
With one gasp, one sob, one-hundred hot tears
The night is sleepless

With one pain, one ache, one deep grief
We gather together
With one voice, one song, one hand upraised
We give Him praise

With one question, one doubt, one answer given
I begin to understand
With one whisper, one promise, one blessed assurance
My heart’s given peace
With one desire, one wish, one precious dream
I surrender it all
To follow His call

Can I just say that this is amazing?!

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I loved the rhythm of this. And the descriptiveness. (Is that a word?)

I especially love the first stanza:
With one look, one breath, one faltering step
Everything went dark
With one voice, one cry, one moment in time
Everything became nothing
With one word, one touch, one last glance
Everything fell apart

The most astonishing thing about miracles is that they happen.
-G. K. Chesterton

This is really, really, really moving! Very well done and well worded and AWESOME! I literally got teary-eyed (and I don't know why) when you wrote:
All hope is broken
With one scream, one moan, one terrorized pain
My heart is rent
With one gasp, one sob, one-hundred hot tears
The night is sleepless

"Here's looking at you, Kid"
