A different kind of Sea

Riding on a sea of dreams,
reality ready to burst, at its seams.
Bending the world to our minds,
discovering new places, species, and kinds.

Riding on a sea of waves,
a seagull that screeches, squawks, and raves.
Dolphins that together jump and play,
While whales moan and groan all the long day.

Riding on a sea of sand,
dividing the world between water and land.
Creatures scuttering 'cross the small white grains,
while sea lions bask with their non-existent manes.

Riding on a sea of clouds,
the wind whipping, roaring, and loud.
Up above with all so small,
the sun shining days last call.

Riding on a sea of words,
the surrounding world gone, just blurred.
Then new ones brought to life surround,
where imagination can leap and bound.

Riding on a sea of sleep,
my mind to fall and sink to the deep.
My eyes fluttering ready to rest,
and heart to join in nights endless fest.

Notes

Just a poem I wrote while on the plane back from California and a lot of it was inspired by the time I spent on Coronado beach and on a whale watching tour.
