Island of the Kahts~Part Sixteen

Part 16

Morning dawned cool and fresh, just the opposite of my pent-up and feverish thoughts. I lay in my cot a few moments after waking because I knew I wouldn’t be able to look Bart in the eye without it all coming out.

When I did get up, though, I found I had a respite. Bart and some of the others were making sweeps outside the camp, checking and setting a few traps to give us fresh meat supply.

Craigin was already up and Gern’s bedroll was rumpled and body-less.

26. The Tragedy of the Marble Cat
This marble cat sits
On a marble windowsill,
Watching everlasting asphalt streets.
On marble haunches,
Teases metal cars
With its sleek, cold grace.
Lifelike marble tail,
Slender as hairless stone can be,
Almost seems to swing,
With a touch of imagination.
Bright emerald eyes wink,
Almost intelligently.
But not for all the imagination in the world
Will this marble cat ever
Catch a single real mouse.

27.
I dreamed a dream of sunshine

The Ballad of Romeow and Julicat

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sat, 08/15/2009 - 02:12

... this is based on the cat who sits under our window and meows up at our kitty. We nicknamed them "Romeow" and "Julicat" though their names are really "Ojo" and "Sunny."

Enjoy. :)

Down below the window wide,

At morning, noon, or eventide,

Came Romeow in all his glory,

But not to chase a rainbow lory.

For seated in the window wide,

A-lying on her side,

Lolled the fair Julicat,

Soaking sunshine where she sat.

"Julicat, O Julicat,

"How I love thee, dear cat!"

Called Romeow, a-wailing

My Cat on my Lap

Submitted by Sarah on Tue, 02/17/2009 - 23:43

I know I'm not really supposed to bring my cat into the house since Steve (my stepdad) is allergic, but................everyone was gone and I couldn't resist. I got up form the computer and went outside and whistled and called her a few times. M-kity came trotting out from underneath one of the vehicles and curled around my ankles. (Yes, my cat does come when I whistle and call her name-usually) I picked her up and carried her in the house and sat back down on the computer and alternated petting her and typing. She reciprocated by purring and kneading my legs very hard.

Chapter Six

There were Jellicles scattered around the Junkyard.
To be honest, I felt intimidated. Wouldn't you if you were surrounded by a bunch of cats that were staring at you?
I looked over at Charity and Alyssa, who looked like they were petrified. Their eyes were as big as dinner plates. I wondered if that's what I looked like.

Munkustrap took Amber straight to Tantomile who was sitting with Jemima. He handed them Amber, and they disappeared to...........somewhere else.

Chapter 5

Mungojerrie led us through what seemed like a layrinth of dimly lit hallways.
We seemed to be getting closer to the battle. After a while, Mistoffelees motioned for us to stop. He peeked around a corner and signaled to some-one.(I later found out that it was Alonzo.)We started moving again.

We walked for seemed like hours in silence. It wasn't that we needed to be quiet, the noises from the battle were rather loud, we just were.

Occasionally, we would run into a henchrat. Misto always managed to take care of them rather quickly.

Naien ~ part of chapter one

The evening was grey and misty. Melenyáriel the naien trotted swiftly through the trees, her thick, tortoiseshell fur fluffed against the cold. This was the coldest winter she had yet seen. Light snow was falling, collecting in a thin layer on the mossy ground and melting in minute drops on her fur. She stopped for a moment, tilting back her head to peer at the sky where it showed between the trees, and spotted a bird, its wings dark against the fading light. It might have been one of the Elenalië, but there was no way of telling.

Chapter Two

Alyssa turned to me and glared.
"I can't believe this is happening! I can't be a cat!!"
"Why not," I asked and pointed to myself, Amber, and Charity. "We are!"
"I'm allergic to cats!"
"So? You'll be the first cat who's allergic to her self!"
Amber, Charity, and I laughed. Alyssa was not amused.

"Okay, look," I said. "Whether or not we want to be cats is irrelevant. The fact is, we are. What's important is what do we do, now that we are cats?"
