Their Given Change

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 03/03/2019 - 18:42

Sunsets
Are a blazing fire across the
Sky: signaling
The end of an era, the
Closing of
A chapter, the
Final
Period.
But they serve as a reminder
Of how
Beautiful
The end can be
And
Of how change
Is necessary for
New
Beginnings
Because as the light burns out
And the moon begins to
Rise, it heralds the
New
Day. So you can keep
Your sunrise
And I’ll continue to love
My sunsets, along
With their given
Change

Abolish the IPCC

Submitted by Dan on Tue, 05/28/2013 - 17:12

Lord Monckton, who is a former science adviser for Maragaret Thatcher, said in 2010: “The IPCC… My policy for the future of that body is that it should be abolished.”
Why is Lord Monckton saying this? We will analyze this through two observations, but first, we need to define the IPCC and what it is. In the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s about page, it says:

Upside-down

Submitted by little woman on Sun, 01/27/2013 - 23:33

Seeing the world
upside-down
reveling in
the change
where once was
flat
and lifeless and brown
something new
is became
skies of blue
or grey or white
clouds or snow or ice
a whole existance
turned around
by seeing the world
upside-down.

Trapped

Submitted by Flying Past Clouds on Sun, 11/18/2012 - 22:20

Staring forlornly
Out the window
I'm trapped

But not by force
But merely by choice
I'm trapped

I still have the chance
To turn around
But I'm trapped

I don't want to be
The third wheel again
So I'm trapped

I'd run away
But there's nowhere to go
I'm trapped

I'm trapped

Who am I?

Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on Tue, 06/14/2011 - 21:33

Written when I was 9 years old.....

~

Who am I?

That I have gone away the same and have come back new

Changing in a blink of an eye; Or have I just changed what I do

Who am I?

That my eyes see different than what I saw

A person shining more beautiful than the moon’s light

Someone who always protected me who I never knew before

Who am I?

End of the Opera

END OF THE OPERA

Charles crouched over Diana, holding her limp in his arms.

Another explosion erupted behind him, and crouched more over her, feeling the heat wave and pieces of concrete spattering off of him.

His scarlet overcoat smoked as the heat settled, and he looked down at her face.

It was pale, her eyelids shut. Her lips were limp and she had a peace about her face. A moment before she was in agony from the bullet-wound. Now she was as calm as if she were merely sleeping.

When I Was Your Age

Submitted by KatieSara on Tue, 04/20/2010 - 15:24

When I was your age we used video tapes
TVs were square and fat
We had to rewind after every viewing
You should see how long it took to do THAT

You'd say the video games were primitive
DVDs were strange and new
Cell phones didn't have all those neat gadgets
Kids your age who owned them were few

iPods hadn't shown up yet
But Furbies were all the rage
The cool kids played with Polly Pocket
Gameboy was a fave

The Death of A Queen

Submitted by Keri on Thu, 04/08/2010 - 17:35

 The clock struck midnight

She gave up the fight

And slowly, finally, she died

The people around her all cried

“What now can we do?”

Asked a voice small as dew

And slowly, mournfully they shrugged

They had thought her will would be enough

Who would have thought?

After how hard she fought,

It would all end for naught?

She died.
