There's A Life

What is this place?
Should we give up the fight?
How long will it take
to fully put out the light?
'Cause sometimes it's like I'm drowning,
while I'm lying here in bed,
and I wonder if you wake up
from dreams of those already dead,
and I wonder if you feel so sharply
each beat of your own heart
If you had to use your own hands,
soft and smooth as they are,
I don't think this would be happening,
but we hide inside the dark
The shadows are so comfortable,
even though there is no comfort anymore

Notes in a Pro-Life Meeting

It all started when mom and I were driving to a Pro-Life meeting. Mom asked me to read to her the Council of Elrond from the “Fellowship of the Ring” by J.R.R Tolkien. I read to her for probably forty out of the forty-five minute drive to a friend’s house. After we stopped there, we were off again for another thirty minute drive.

Title: Still Unknown

This is another song I wrote a little over a year ago. It ties together a lot of different ideas - things like Jesus being "The Way" and "The Truth" and "The Life" - as well as "The Word". It's a very pro-life song - describing the reality of God becoming flesh - but even a year later I haven't come up with the perfect title yet. :)

The Creator - incarnated -
Within the womb of the creation -
God becomes man within a woman.
The Word became flesh
In the Ark of the New Covenant
As God's words in stone were carried
In the Ark of the Old...

Life

See the sparkling, bright-blue eyes,
the tiny fingers, minute hands.
Each part so small;
perfectly formed,
from soft, downy hair
to the tips of ten toes.
This little person is
full of life;
a sign of love and
our future’s hope.
