Rain

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Mon, 12/01/2014 - 05:43

Rain that patters not the roof,
Rain that lulls me, soothes me, too
Rain that sings a lullaby,
Rain that makes me want to cry.
Rain that makes me want to sing,
Rain finds joy in everything.
Rain that is goodly for the earth,
Rain that is moody, or full of mirth.
Rain that God gives us in His love;
Showers of blessings from above.

Consumed

Submitted by E on Sat, 11/15/2014 - 03:52

You are completely consuming my mind.
I want you out now, I want you gone.
I hate it when I feel the impending dread in my chest,
Sinking & plowing down through my organs.
Your exit is nearer than I am prepared for,
I need to see you but I can’t seem clingy—
But I am, I’m clinging, I‘m clinging for dear life,
On the edge, it’s so precarious, and you are so close.
Why did you have to make these changes so abruptly?
I’ve just gotten to the point where I think, “Yes, maybe.”

There's Perfect, there's Normal, and then there's Me

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 11/09/2014 - 05:35

There's perfect, there's normal, and then there's me.
Listen closely and I'll tell you what I mean:
Perfect wears a dress sized two,
Her little foot wears a seven shoe.
Perfect nose and perfect smile,
Eyes made to win and beguile.
Perfect body and perfect face,
Perfect hair, always in place.
Now normal tells a rather sad tale,
In perfectness does surely fail.
Messy bun and camo flip-flops,
Red plaid pajama bottoms and a pink tank-top.
Neon-green nails, painted weeks ago,
Too much makeup, putting on a show.

Life's Shores

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Mon, 10/27/2014 - 03:33

God is always in control,
Watching faithfully over every soul;
Joyfully on our way we should roll.

Most of the time the rocks are rough,
That means our feet should really be tough;
Calloused, used to trouble, sure enough.

Calloused doesn't mean uncaring,
We should always be bewaring;
With temptations our paths are sharing.

For easy paths we should not lust,
Lessons God teaches us are just;
In bad and good trust Him we must.

Lil' Blessings

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 10/26/2014 - 14:56

Blessings come in many sizes,
Often they are big surprises:
Sometimes large but mostly small,
They are perfect for us all.
Lil' Blessings is waiting near,
For the time when it's to appear;
It will be done in God's perfect timing,
Please forgive our impatient whining.
Don't be worried, frazzled, or stressed;
With Lil' Blessings we'll still be blessed.

To My Future, Or Not

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Wed, 10/22/2014 - 14:31

Ne're a day goes by
That I don't close my eyes
And sigh, wishing you were here.
But God knows the future
Just like He knows the past;
And even if I don't understand,
God still has a perfect plan.
He holds today and tomorrow:
Just like He held yesterday,
His Divine will is perfect,
And in my weakness He strengthens me.
I can have joy even when I cry for you,
And I can sleep in peace at night.
I know that I may see you someday,
Even if someday isn't tomorrow,
Someday farther in the future,

Happy/Goodbyes

Submitted by E on Wed, 10/01/2014 - 04:15

I. Happy
A couple got engaged
on top of the rock where I
celebrated my birthday.
They picked up the rose petals
that he had laid down for her,
and when I walked by I saw them
looking at each other as if
no one else had ever existed,
and I have never seen
a person look at another person
quite like that.
It made me want to
build something beautiful
like they did.

Sixty-Five Roses

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Tue, 09/30/2014 - 15:59

Sixty-five roses in a vase by a bed,
The thirtieth birthday of a loved father-head.
A foster dad, a favorite big brother,
A good Christian man, a true and faithful warrior.

With Cystic Fibrosis his lungs slave away,
The Doc said he might live to his eighteenth birthday.
His cheerful countenance is loved by all,
Many memories are made with him to recall.

Wonder of a Little Dove

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Wed, 09/24/2014 - 04:19

Oh wonder of a little dove,
Cooing words of mother-love;
Sitting on your nest so near,
Guarding baby-eggs so dear.
You would die to strive
To save your eggs lives,
You hunt for their food;
In the wilds of forrest-wood.
God gave you abilities:
Instincts and agility.
A symbol of meekness,
Purity, not weakness,
Strong character, and wise,
Patient tone, gentle eyes.
If all men from you would learn,
A godly character to earn,
A countenance of love and grace;

Love

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Fri, 09/12/2014 - 05:43

Marriage is a blessing
Sent from God above.
Two hearts conversed
And the subject was love.

Leader and helpmeet
They will always be,
Singing together,
Living in harmony.
