It’s the end of the day, and I need a break.
I can’t possibly learn anything more
With this headache.
Check the tide charts for the state of the shore -
Looks like it’ll be
A negative point nine
In an hour or two. Let’s see -
I’ll whip on some sunblock (the dog starts to whine)
Grab a hat (lost my sunglasses), check my chair
For the keys (he’s barking now).
Snap on a leash. Step outside. Such cool air
I’m not used to on a sunny day. But how
Fresh the wind is, how the walk

Seaside

After a long drive, we roll down the windows;
The sea is still a mile or so away but its winsome,
Chilled, salty smell
Gives the air a distinct
Sense of adventure. When it finally enters view,
It is frolicking on the beach like a colt,
Splashing and rolling,
Throwing itself around
The rocks.
All you want
To do
Is get
Your feet a little
Wet
But it draws you in engulfs you
In a heavy wall of water,
Collapsing at your feet
In the oozing sand.

Smoke and Seas

Spin, spin, pulse and wind

Tempest, storm, pulse and whirl

Round, round, pounding clouds

Pulse, pulse, surge and beat

Dark, ash, cold and rain

Torn, torn, smoke and seas.

Surge, surge, swell and gale

Heave, turn, beat and wind

Grey, grey, tempest breath
