Neither Am I Worthy

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Mon, 02/06/2017 - 03:55

Neither am I worthy
To go as He didst go
For I in faith to lose myself
Would be not such a woe
And so now I am waking up
As I am put to sleep
Mine eyes are op'ed and lifted up
As physic'lly are my feet
So mercy rains upon my head
And Love looks down on me
While hands are pierced as His once were
And peace makes fear to flee

For me to die is such a gain
I dared not hope to have
While death's sharp sting is cancelled out
In light of His pure blood

Crucifixion: VII. God is Dead

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sat, 09/01/2012 - 08:14

Canto VII. God is Dead

It is finished, He gave up His soul,
The wrath of God has taken its toll.
The darkness, risen dead, and earthquake,
The curtain torn – for this, who would not shake?

If it ended there, what more could be said?
The Son of God was weak and stayed dead.
Sin was not conquered; the disciples had fled.
Those He helped had all been misled.
God was not powerful; they laid Him in a tomb –
Might it have been better if He’d just stayed in the womb?
The Light has failed,
His glory has paled.

Crucifixion: III. The Garden of Tears

Submitted by Kyleigh on Tue, 05/01/2012 - 10:07

In the garden, His soul is sorrowful to death.
Bloody tears and sweat mingled with every breath.
He falls on His face and beseeches the Father,
Asking that the cup might go no farther.

My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will but as You will.

That night, Peter, James, and John He brought,
Instead of temptation, it was sleep they fought.
The spirit was willing yet the flesh was weak – so unlike Him who prayed.
And as He finishes – into the hands of sinners, the Son of Man is betrayed.

Crucifixion: II. Take and Eat

Submitted by Kyleigh on Sun, 04/01/2012 - 07:12

One last supper they ate together
The disciples not knowing the storm He would weather.
He washes their feet, and warns they’ll fall away,
Though every one claims he shall stay.

He takes the bread, His broken frame
Shattered to claim the Savior-name.
Take; eat, in remembrance of Him
This must be done to save from sin.

His blood of the covenant is in the cup
Poured out His soul to death, soon after they sup,
Spilled for the covenant and forgiveness of sins,
Shedding blood greater than animal skins.

I Thirst

Submitted by Clare Marie on Fri, 04/10/2009 - 14:43

I hang stretched upon a naked tree
Pierced hands, pierced feet
Bleeding wounds -oh so many
A crown of thorns upon my head

About me stand my enemies
Laughing and deriding
Mocking me -but how I still love them
I created them each individually

Where is my God?
I am forsaken
Oh! How great are the sins on my soul!

Sins of which I am not guilty
A burden I took out of love

My children! I love thee!
My own! Come back to me!
Ah, how I thirst for souls!
