0: Nameless Faces

Submitted by Heather Jones on Sat, 12/01/2018 - 22:59

The world is made up of much more than brave heroes and spineless fools. Every person in every land, of every color, of every psyche - cold or hot, black or white, sad or glad, good or ill - are part of a great story; a rolling, thundering epic, starring nameless faces and every soul who has ever inhaled even a single breath. Invisible people you'll never meet, forgotten by time, stolen away in a gust of wind just outside of your temporal reach.

Ode To a Not So Little Sister

You fold the panties,
Very small,
And put them in their pile.
You fold the little boy shirt,
You fold your dad's boxers,
Then you reach for the jeans,
That practically fill the whole basket,
You hold them up,
Look at the tag
And frown in confusion,
The waist looks too small,
fo you,
The length legs are just right,
You haven't ever seenthem before,
They can't be yours.
You run up the stais,
Calling "Mommy,
Are these yours?"
She looks at the tag,
Looks at the legnth,

Left-Hander's Curse

"Keep up, Ceilí. We haven't much time." I pulled my sister's hand deeper into the forest. She whimpered quietly. I knew the running we'd done was too much on her, but I didn't have another choice. We had to keep going forward.

"Victeoiria..."

"No, Ceilí. We musn't stop. I see a field up ahead. We will rest there."  The sun was just going down beyond the hills of Álainn-Ionad, a tiny Gaelic city next to Ireland. It is not considered part of Ireland, but it is not a country of its own.

Strange Things Were Happening

Strange things were happening. Well, not exactly strange, I suppose, but unusual. Abnormal maybe, but not exactly strange. No, definitely not strange. Different, odd, out of character? Perhaps. By now you may be wondering who I am, no? I am a voice, the voice that is to tell your story today.
Might I begin with a gooday? Well then, gooday.

Bella's Heart- Chapter 2

Submitted by KatieMarie on Sat, 12/27/2008 - 17:53

Bella took a deep breath and inhaled the familiar scent of home. The funeral was over, and she couldn’t be happier. In the foyer, she kicked off her black pumps and shook her left foot. She knew a blister was coming. Behind her, Anne, who was holding baby Edward, Helena, Darcy and her other siblings, Josie, Jake, Lizzy, Haley, Kevin, Sadie and Charlie came in. At the end of the line, Ben shuffled in. Bella noticed that he had dark circles under his eyes and looked tired. She realized how hard it must be to take care of eleven kids and one sister-in-law.
